End of analog TV21 Nov 2008 05:19 GMT60
Some stupid moron on television was explaining the digital was better
than analog because there is no interference. He said digital was either
working or completely off. That is a bunch of crap. What is those square
boxes going across the screen all the time. I'll agree the sound is
Digital to analog TV signal converter - which one?21 Nov 2008 04:58 GMT7
The time has come here in the midwest USA for me to finally get with the
program and decide on a converter before my "gift" card expires.  A quick
search of Best Buy web site brings up three: Apex for $50, Insignia for $60,
and Samsung for $180.
Does the team think - flicker lamps21 Nov 2008 03:36 GMT9
Simple question here,
In the opinion of the assembled brains trust, If I used neon flicker
candle lamps with a normal everyday light dimmer, will they strike ok if
the level is brought up from minimum, and will they unstrike (!) if the
Power Inverters21 Nov 2008 03:00 GMT5
We're looking for a power inverter to recharge our Compaq notebook
in the car.  Is it better to buy one with a larger rating (400W) rather than
a smaller one?  Black & Decker has a 100W model ($13) and it gets
decent reviews:
Valve amp fault - nasty buzz21 Nov 2008 02:13 GMT19
My Fender guitar amp has developed a fault and I'm pretty good working
with electronics, safety (discharging caps etc) and soldering, but I
don't have the circuit knowledge to work out which components are
faulty.  Could someone here offer any help please ?
remote controlled audio mixer/equalizer project20 Nov 2008 22:25 GMT5
I would appreciate some suggestions for implementing a stand-alone
audio mixer/equalizer box using commodity components, in the shortest
development time at the least possible cost.  I am tending to
want to to use four PCI sound cards in an older PIII 1u rackmount

Surface mount chip problem20 Nov 2008 22:21 GMT12
I have a board with a large QFP surface mount IC - something had been
smashed into a few pins of this IC, so bending them and causing them
to short against each other. Managed to straighten them all, except
for one which broke right against the main body of the chip.
Paging Jim Yanik - 7000 series plugin question20 Nov 2008 20:02 GMT4
Jim (and other Tek alumni),
Why is there no polar display or vectorscope plugin for the 7000 series?
Did you ever hear of a third party that made one?
Thanks,
Tektronix 2335 Oscilloscope Repair20 Nov 2008 14:24 GMT4
I have a early 1980's era Tek 2335 here that is in need of repair. I
know this is a somewhat scarce ruggedized military model, but it may
be helpful if someone could tell me if there is a more standard model
that this may be a clone of.
B&K Power Amplifier - Fluctuating DC Offset20 Nov 2008 13:28 GMT4
Hi, I have a B&K EX4420 power amplifier with balanced and non-balanced
inputs. I tryed to get rid of the DC offset, each channel has a pot
for correction but it keeps fluctuating. When the amplifier starts I

MIssion cambridge amplifier20 Nov 2008 12:39 GMT5
I've got a Mission Cambridge pre-amplifier.
I took it apart due and made digital pictures of the equipment, except
had an hard disk crash. Lost all the pictures, so i can't reassemble it.
And guessing it is a huge risk (it is not mine).
Marshall JCM 200020 Nov 2008 10:13 GMT8
Latching switch types ok for VCRs etc, with tight clearances but not here. 2
DPDT worn , leading to snap crackle and pop etc unless you hold the knob in
or out. There is about 2mm of play between the knobs and the holes in the
metal of the front/rear panels. Replace those 2 plus 2 ...
grinder/juicer problems20 Nov 2008 01:11 GMT8
I have gotten a food grinder/juicer for a few years. Recently, the
juice that I'm getting out of the machine has gotten coarser. I'm not
sure if it's the grinding stone that has become dull, or whether it's
time to get a replacement motor. The picture shows the motor that the

Do they make a S-Video splitter that has 2 male plugs and 1 female

I'm wanting to run a S-VHS VCR and a DVD player on a TV that only has
one S-Video input.
