Aerodynamics of a vent?31 Oct 2008 17:33 GMT3
Probably equivalent to coalfire chimney design.
Recently put in a cab top vent for a valve amp in desperate need of one.
The convection air coming out was 40 degree C higher than ambient so metal
of grill got fairly warm, better out than in. I was thinking next time

It's in a Kenwood 7" mobile monitor. It's self centering, but if you
activate the plunger either direction it will close with one of two
poles depending on the direction of the throw. Kenwood has been of no

Startup Problem w/CDP Okyo DX-681030 Oct 2008 12:49 GMT9
I've got a strange problem regarding my CompactDisc-Player DX6810 by
Onkyo. When I insert a disc, it spins up for about 3-4 seconds and
then simply runs out. It isn't stopped, the spindle motor just stops
turning. The track display then reads "0" and nothing else is
Sencore SC61 schematic ?30 Oct 2008 10:15 GMT2
I have an old SC61 that I've used in the shop for some time. Recently,
it's come down with a flashing VDC display and a slight herring-bone

According to the calibrate section in the owners manual,
way OT: loss of SysTray items30 Oct 2008 07:00 GMT4
This is OT, but it might be significant. And this group seems more
technically knowldegable than most of the others I belong to.
I noticed a few minutes ago that the Windows SysTray is suddenly missing
most of the protective utilities, as well as a few other items. This might
Progressive Inductive probe wire tracer29 Oct 2008 23:18 GMT1
I have been looking at these. I saw one once and it
seemed to respond well to noise in a room, such as from
lighting. I have been making a noise detector for a while, which
has selectable types of noise, electrostatic, magnetic, light, and

Silvering/mirroring glass, any ideas?28 Oct 2008 08:50 GMT2
To silver part of a standard mercury discharge lamp for use as a video

not necessary.
No evacuation chamber available.
KDS Rad-7bk LCD Monitor Distortion28 Oct 2008 03:40 GMT4
This 2004 LCD monitor is nearly working.  The onscreen menu is
functional, clear, and sharp.
But the computer image is distorted.  It's like every other scan line is
moving back and forth at something like a 30 to 60 Hz rate.  Auto-tune
toaster recommendations...28 Oct 2008 01:29 GMT11
This is off-topic (sort of), but I have to ask.
The first toaster I ever owned (31 years ago) * was a classic GE
"Toast-R-Oven" -- you know, the one with the front door that swings down and
the tray that pulls out. It lasted 11 years, with one repair. (The
