My phone lines drops calls intermittently.  As soon as the call's

Recycling caps from circuit boards - does anybody else here do this?03 Feb 2008 07:41 GMT21
Instead of throwing away old circuit boards which are beyond repair, I
find myself removing the caps etc for possible future re-use (just
using a soldering iron, as wick is quite expensive).  Is anyone else
here this sad?  :-)

Racal 9903 / 9904 counter timer repair02 Feb 2008 11:58 GMT3
As mentioned in a previous post, I have a Racal 9903 counter timer that I'm
trying to repair; I found a manual that, unfortunately, has a vital section
of the schematic missing due to a bad scan, but I have determined that the
LSI device IC5 is probably at fault. The IC in ...

I turn it off and then on again and now there is nothing ...
Convert an AC to a DC Welder02 Feb 2008 02:04 GMT31
I recently read that an AC welder can be converted to a DC welder, and
all thats needed are either two or four very high amp diodes.  The
welder puts out up to 240amps.  I never measured the voltage, but I
think it's around 25 to 30.  (I'll have to check).  Two diodes will
plastic VCR part01 Feb 2008 18:13 GMT6
Ward JSJ20200 VCR. Little plastic pulley that was friction-fit onto the bottom
of the capstan flywheel is broken; it worked a belt that went to the idler
wheel. I'd hate to lose the VCR to such a little part. Any hope of finding
a replacement?
Reasonable to try to sub power MOSFET's?01 Feb 2008 17:49 GMT9
Hi, I'm working on a home theater receiver that has a blown MOSFET
(2SK3599-01MR) in one of the switching power supplies.  I can't seem
to find a replacement from any of the sources I'm aware of.
I was able to find a datasheet on it, and I'm wondering if it's even a
DTV Convertor Boxes UNavailable01 Feb 2008 15:52 GMT6
I just went to the government web site and checked to see if any DTV
boxes were available yet, within a 100 mile radius of  Chicago.  ZERO
results.  Don't apply for your two coupons yet as they expire after 90
days and you can only get two!!!
VHS recorder with "F" input01 Feb 2008 15:46 GMT9
We are on a the Comcast cable system so if it works as I understand it when
the US goes digital we will still get a analog signal over cable.
I am looking for a VHS recorder with an RF input using the usual F
connector. This will just be used for time shifting.
