Power cable ...30 Sep 2007 23:00 GMT17
I know that there is always furious debate on the audio groups about this,
but in all the years that I have been mending this stuff, I have never
actually been faced directly with it ...
Yesterday, a boat-anchor Yammy turned up from one of the high-end dealers

Samsung hcm4215w projection tv30 Sep 2007 00:40 GMT3
I have a rear projection tv I'm trying to get running.  Originally it
wouldn't stay on.  If I unplugged the convergence board it would stay
on.  I bought two new stk392-040's and installed them.  The right hand
side ic would get really hot really fast.  So I took that one out and
Pioneer CLD-92 not reading laser disks30 Sep 2007 00:05 GMT8
This high end laser disk player from 1990 plays CDs fine, but when a
LD is inserted, it only spins for a few revolutions before it ejects
it.  My first instinct would be to say the optical pickup is bad, but
other LD players I've seen with problems try a lot harder to play

Does anyone have the book: Practical Electronics for Inventors by
Paul Scherz?  Someone emailed me noting that most of the safety guidelines
in the book seem to be virtually identical to what's in
the S.E.R FAQ safety document at: http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/safety.htm .

My computer has slowed down badly. I am using XP home.
I defragged, cleaned the harddisk  and the register. No success. What
else can I do?

Fuseable resistor value.29 Sep 2007 13:14 GMT21

Yamaha HTR-5890 NO OUTPUT29 Sep 2007 02:49 GMT3
Has anyone had an issue with the HTR-5890 where there is no output
from any channel, including the pre-outs and the headphone outputs,
except the subwoofer output? The unit powers on fine and all the video
switching is fine, but the only sound comes from the subwoofer out
Sparks around anode - works fine after warm-up29 Sep 2007 02:33 GMT7
I have a pretty bad monitor problem that so far I can't find a
solution for.  Here's the details:

Need 3 inch (76mm)/1 Watt/8 Ohm speaker replacement28 Sep 2007 23:12 GMT3
I have this problem, I live in the UK. I need a 3 inch, 1 watt 8 ohm
speaker (may also be called 76mm in terms of size).

Help anyone? I did find a place called ABCelectronics in the US
Vintage Delco 8 Track ...28 Sep 2007 22:34 GMT8
Any of you good ol' boys across the pond, familiar with a Delco 15CFMT3 (or
might be a 25CFMT3 as it has two stickers on it, one red, one black, each
purporting to be the "service model number" ).
It's from a vintage Chevy, I believe, and a colleague asked me to have a
How to Correct Poor Hard Drive Power Connector Contacts?28 Sep 2007 18:17 GMT14
Have a Hard Drive (HD) that makes a very loose contact with the power
connector.  At first thought it was dead but changed PCs and it is
OK.  Also some other Good HDs have start up problems with this PCs
power connector.
Bridge Failures ...28 Sep 2007 17:48 GMT34
When a diode power bridge - discrete devices or four-legged package - fails,
it's almost invariably one diode in the 'negative' arm which goes short
circuit. Any thoughts on why this should be, rather than any one of the four
failing at random ?
