When I try to turn on from standby the only response from the set is that the standby light goes off, followed by a bird-like cheeping sound which lasts 6 seconds when the set goes back to standby. Any ideas?

I imagine that any bench tech who's been fixing electronic stuff for a while has at least a couple of components housed on what I call The Shelf of Weird Things: items that caused a very bizarre problem, or look strange, or whatever.

Every two weeks, the pressure gauge on our Vaillant ecoTech Plus keep going down to zero and I have to top up the radiators with more water. Our plumber has tightened a suspect leaking towel radiator but th pressure still seems to gradually drop over two weeks.

I have a weird problem with my 20" CRT monitor. Every now and then (there are always some hours between the incidents), the picture gets bigger (kinda like zooming in) and at the same time loses brightness. This 'zooming process' lasts for about one second.

Everything else works OK on this, but the ESR test only displays blinking 9's for any cap tested. Is this something I will have to send out for repair, or does anyone here happen to have a fix for this? Thanks group.
