which is better for desoldering IC's ?

My brother-in-law has just acquired a used compact Toshiba TV, not
sure of the model. It currently skips channels 3 and 4 when scrolling
up or down. There is a channel lock function, and when we try to enter
it it asks for a 4 digit password, which we've not been able to

I have a Panasonic PT-53X54 rear projection lcd tv.  Yesterday when I
turned it on, something very weird happened:  the image appeared to be
ballooned and too big for the tv!
My guess is that somehow the lens that the bulb shines light through

my TV has a strange fault
sound coming out of the TV speakers will cause the picture to disrupt
and switch-off at worst
I have sound coming out of the two phono to a stereo

I have a 19" Sony Trinitron Monitor which since before its 3rd anniversary,
has been getting dimmer and dimmer.  In order to use it, I've had to

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this: I bought a Hitachi
42EDT41 2 years ago (http://www.hitachi.us/tv/browse/plasma/plasma/
42edt41.shtml), and for a couple of weeks now, when I start it up, I
can see a bunch of green pixels grossly following the image at it

Does anyone have specifications/manual/info for this scope?  I can't
find anything anywhere.

I have a customer who wants to retrieve data from an IBM Wheelwriter 70,
Series II, Model 6789 Typewriter 3.5 inch diskettes. I do not have any of
these diskettes. I would assume they'd be a much lower capacity than the
standard 1.4meg, and probably non DOS. Does anyone have any ...

I'm afraid my kenwood kr-v6010 audio/ video receiver overheated,
because it won't turn on. Is there some kind of circuit breaker
inside? should I take it to a shop to get fixed, or should I throw it
out?

My trusty old Technics 5 disc cd changer died the other day while
playing a CD. The unit powers up, I can open the drawer and flip the
cds around but the unit will not recognize a cd is in any of the
trays, and will ofcourse not play it.

I've got the above LCD that exhibits this problem:
When you turn the unit on, both backlights operate and you get the standard
"no signal" message on the LCD. After about 2 seconds, the backlight turns
off, along with the power LED, while the video is still working (verified
