H/V lines on LCD monitor02 Oct 2006 11:41 GMT3
I picked up a 15" Proview pro588 LCD PC monitor cheap; has flaws of
course. It has a few horizontal and vertical lines running straight
across the screen (entire row of pixels are non-functional) but other
than that, it displays input from a computer fine.
Rant: F**k the Salvation Army02 Oct 2006 11:29 GMT87
Ok.....found a flat panel monitor at a Salvation Army thrift store
today. At 35$ it seemed it would make a nice little display for a
second machine. Now I know the policy of "as is" from this place and
you should power up and test before hauling anything of this nature out

I bought a used AM/FM/Cassette deck for my car.  Unfortunately, th
heads, capstans, and pinch rollers were filthy.  A cleaning tape barel
made a dent in the grime, so I cleaned everything gently with Q-tips an
rubbing alcohol.  But there is still visible corrosion on the tape head

Car mirror heater pad01 Oct 2006 21:59 GMT12
I've done a fair bit of research in the UK and come up with nothing, so
cast myself humbly on the mercy of this group. ;-)
I've got an old car which has heated door mirrors. Both the elements are
burnt out, and spares are no longer available. The mirrors themselves (the
JVC Replacement Parts or Cross REF.01 Oct 2006 21:20 GMT3
Okay, I am in the process of repairing my JVC AV-56WP84 Rear Projection

Capacitor operating characteristics question01 Oct 2006 19:26 GMT6
I have a Tantalum capacitor that needs to be replaced - 560pf/2Kv. I
have found a ceramic cap with the same values. Can I replace with the
ceramic, and what are the differences other than material of
construction? Thanks for your input.
JVC AV 32730 Problem01 Oct 2006 19:22 GMT4
HELP!  I'm not a big electronics mechanic, so I need some help here...
My JVC 32" TV is only showing a thin, horizontal "picture" line instea
of its full picture.  Everything else works fine.  If I "tap" it in an
way, the picture will try to come up, but doesn't stay.  Seems lik

of business.
Searching the web, it appears that Solomon is popular everywhere else in
TEC Digital Computing scale SL-2200-50-J0-GB01 Oct 2006 18:58 GMT1
I would appreciate help with this Calculating Weighing Scale. The machine
works perfectly well, but the centre segment of the seven segment display is
very poor contrast and easily mistaken for a zero when it should read eight.

Can anyone recommend a conductive liquid ?01 Oct 2006 15:26 GMT6
I am looking for some type of liquid that once deposited on a small
area will do two things:  make very solid contact with the surface and,
after it dries completely, would become conductive, i.e. would show a
very low resistance between any two points on the poured liquid. In
