I'm working on a "tractor performance monitor" from a farm tractor. It uses an 6803U4 micro and I gather that the main program is stored on a TC5518 static ram which is battery backed up. The problem came about when the lithium cell went dead and the static ram lost it's contents.

In theory these are supposed to be a great idea. Almost all packaging stipulates somewhere that the bulbs are expected to last for five years. All packaging has that "Energy Star" logo on it. In practice, I'm finding the bulbs made in Asia aren't lasting longer than 18 months.

I am reluctant to open this up unless necessary, but I don't get any meter movement on any setting with either internal or external modulation on the 1001. THe scope trace is unaffect also. If I have to open this up and the tubes are good, what is the next thing I should

I just got a Panosonic LD/dvd player on ebay and it has an odd problem that hopefully somebody can help me with It plays DVD's fine all the time but almost always doesn't "recognize" a laser disc.
