Replacing motherboard capacitors31 Mar 2006 21:27 GMT6
Just tried powering up an old (386) PC, and was greeted with an acrid
smell and a puff of smoke; one of the motherboard capacitors had blown.
I'd like to try replacing it, but my main concern is: what rating
should I buy as a replacement? The surviving originals are all marked

Anyone Know Why?I turn my PC off every night. I live in a windy area
with a lot of dead trees hanging over the power lines.

I bought a new 12V battery for the riding lawnmower.
Put it on the charger for a day and the voltage was 13.8 while on the
charger  Removed from the charger and the voltage drops to 12.72.
The battery cables were disconnected.

Ok, it was a bad idea to take both my video cam and still (digital) cam
on that little boat. They both got dunked in the lake, and both still
work after they were literally hung on the clothesline to dry.
The problem: both video & still cam's still work but they now take

Went out to look at a Hitachi Projection TV, Convergence was way out,
thought I would pull the chassis and bring it back to the shop for
Convergence module and resistor replacement.  Well, I forgot to get
the model # off the back, It is an AP53 Chassis.  Someone repaired it

Repair of old arcade monitor 197931 Mar 2006 06:01 GMT10
I've got a rare old vector arcade monitor from a "Warrior" arcade game
that came out in 1979.  Everything works except that the picture is way
off center.  To the point that about half of it is off-screen.  I've
adjusted the horizontal and vertical controls as far as they go.  So

Turn set on and High voltage comes up to about 28K and the set shuts down.
Flyback rings ok using the scope cal  jack. Have 130VDC to the H-out
transistor, I did find the Vert IC shorted pin 6 (vert supply) to pin 5

I have 2 HP L1510 LCD monitors..  Both have the same problem, very dark
picture.  I pulled them both apart and they both have the same cap blown..
The problem is that they are melted that bad that i can't read the rating on
them.. I've spent hours searching the net but found ...

Can any tell me the part numbers for the entire front panel and the
cassette door flap for a Sony EVC-200 Hi-8 VCR?  It was stored too
close to a heater and has warped badly.
