I have an 8640b with issues.  As frequency is increased in each range,
it falls off to nothing or very low at the high end.  Low end seems to
work ok.  I aligned the two seperate detents on the range selector
switch, but still the same problem.  Is this a common failure, or am I

Can an old (>30 yrs) ballast end up by quickly burning out new
starters? (This is in a 12" 32W circline bathroom fixture.)
Would an old ballast have any telltale signs if it is malfunctioning?
Would it have that burnt smell itself? Thanks.

Anyone finding bad CRT sockets with green corrossion inside
the socket causing arcing? Seems common,even on rebuilt
boards from global in Mississsauga, Ontario. Also, CRT burn-in
at shutdown. SSI board causing this?

The unit doesn't have power.  I found two diodes (in parallel) on the
power supply board seem got burnt (burn mark on the PCB).  Took the
diodes off the board, one is dead (zero resistance).  The other one

The power supply was damaged from a power surge caused by lightning.
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the VEPS 1008 vcr type power

OK, so I found that the dampers ARE sealed and are mounted to the
chassis by a press-fit onto a riveted post.
