Neighbors have a computer that won't work after a lightning strike.
With the video cable connected, the monitor stays black and in the
standby mode.  There are howls from the speakers, like feedback.  With
the cable disconnected, the monitor will briefly show a notice that it's
Fans inside a computer tower?13 Jul 2005 11:56 GMT9
I recently bought a new computer, in a Li-Lian chassis, which comes
equipped with three small fans: two at the front to draw air in, and one
at the back to help drive air out.
I have discovered that none of these three fans are ever turning.

Panasonic VCR mechanical question?12 Jul 2005 19:15 GMT1
I have a Panasonic PV-V4521 VCR that recently caused a tape to pucker
along the bottom edge, even though the capstan washer hadn't ridden up
the shaft and the tape didn't seem to ride too low in the groove around
the stationary drum (bright reflection when flashlight shined on it).

After power surge, 1.6 amp main fuse blown, replacment blows after power
button is pressed and power relay closes. Request source for schematic or
service manual, plus any service tips from those who have seen these items.
