HELP TV just went off one day like a short and will not come back on.

This evening we were weatching TV on my 1998 vintage JVC AV36950 36" TV
when the screen went black. The red power light started blinking on and
off, and we could hear the sound snap, snap, snap, snap, etc. Also smell
slight odor of hot or burned plastic.

I connected the motor to a 14v battery and it runs but when I connect it
directly to the power supply (red and blue wires) it just hums (quietly). I
measured 100vdc from the red/blue leads on the power supply. Could the PS
not be generating enough amperage to magnetize the ...

The +/- buttons on a Toshiba CF19G32 television from 1998 will not
change its Setup screen's TV/CABLE mode to TV.  It is stuck in STD
CABLE.  These buttons also do not work on that Setup menu's CH PROGRAM
(channel programming) or ADD/ERASE.  But these buttons do work on

One quick question before I dig into it. It powers up, but there is no
power to the filaments. I've removed and cleaned the L14401 and pads, but no

I bought a used non-working 7905.  Have almost everything fixed except:
When increasing the trace brightness to an acceptable level there is a
halo present.  It is not a uniform halo, but is displaced slightly up
and to the right of the trace, probably 20% brightness at normal

In trying to figure out why this atx pc won't start, I carefully look ed
at the motherboard. Some of the blue 'can' capacitors are straight across
the top, with the X shape. But others are bulged up. Some have a smudge

I still have the same problem with this Hitachi 50EX10B. Hit power
button, relay clicks, red light comes on, sounds like high voltage
trying to come up, then shuts down. Can here relay click when it does
this. Have to unplug set, and plug back in to get it to go through this

My telephone disconects on the first ring.
Sometimes it's the second or third ring, but it's shorting out on the ring.
What usualy causes this? so that I can fix it.
