MY VCR is playing up ! Its been working fine for years (this model was
made in 1991 !) what happens is that when a tape is inserted the
machine does one of three things.
1. plays the tape, but only displays maybe 1-2 seconds of film on the

This unit came in loaded with tar, nicotene and dead moths inside the unit and
around the flybacks and High voltage area with the complaint of No Ozone
output.  I found that there was very little HV at startup - between 260-305 Vpp

I've got a MAG DJ530 monitor that suddenly crapped out.  The standby
circuit appears to be functioning, as when I depress the momentary on
switch the front LED lights for about a half a second, and the relay

What is the best method for desoldering components on circuit boards?  I
know that there is the bulb method that sucks up the solder, and the braided
copper wire that wicks it up.  Which is generally preferred?
