Someone asked me about the following.  It looks to me like a bridge
rectifier but either it is something else or died in a really strange way:
"I'm repairing a desktop centrifuge (Eppendorf 5417).
There is a component on it which is completely unfamiliar to me.

Sony projection No raster, has sound,  AP chassis KP-46XBR3513 Aug 2004 17:50 GMT4
advanced the G2 on the green gun and found full vertical deflection.
Of course it was all green, and had only a trace of an
image in the background.  Also there are some 10 or 12 horizontal
lines speced in the image.  So I have vertical deflection.  What now??
poll: tackiest brand names/worst brands TV/VCR/stereo etc?13 Aug 2004 17:50 GMT52
I am constantly amazed at what weird /unheard-of/ downright cheap 'n'
nasty-sounding "brand" names continually pop up on the front of 'brown'
goods like TVs,Videos and stereos. Most of the culprits appear in large
national supermarket and electrical stores. So, here are some of the ...

Laptop Screen Hinge Too Loose13 Aug 2004 14:51 GMT3
My dell inspiron 4000 screen won't quite stay upright.  After too many
openings and closings, I get the feeling it's become a bit loose.  Unless
it's within about 5 degrees of 90, the weight of the screen will flop it
open to 180 degrees.
CTC203CA5 Fixed13 Aug 2004 10:53 GMT1
Thanks to all that responded,  The problem Was a .22 cap (c14154), across
zener (CR14115) in the base of Q14115, the 5 volt reg.  This is the source
for the 5 volts to the tuner pin 3, 7, &8.
Guess that explains the error code 198
