AST monitor problem31 Aug 2003 22:41 GMT1
This model CMC-1701M2 (Vision 7) does not power up.  The power LED
remains orange, and a relay click can be heard after about 5 secs., then
nothing.  Toggling sw  V01  produces another relay click.
The degauss button doesn't  provide the momentary surge current either.

Hardened "goop" (ferro-fluid) on midrange/tweeter speakers?31 Aug 2003 17:15 GMT1
I have come across several sets of speakers where one or more drivers
(midrange/tweeter) have siezed up. Opening them has revealed a black,
sticky tar-like (or harder) substance between the coil and magnet,
restricting motion of the coil. I assume this is (or was at one time)
digital camera repairs?31 Aug 2003 16:00 GMT3
Is it easy to repair a digital camera?  Mine seems to act weird after
I tried using Nimh 1800 types of batteries in it.  Now it seems to
take picture just whenever it wants to, and won't obey commands
entered through the pressbuttons.
Mitsubishi CS2611R vertical problem.31 Aug 2003 15:56 GMT2
This set uses the LA7838. I did all the soldering and then took some
readings on the chip. Pin 1 VCC measures 9.0V, (according to NTE
should be 12V), and pin 8 measures 24V, (correct). Does anyone have a
database on Mits or have any tips on this model? Or perhaps if you
REQ: schematic for Apex AD1500 power supply31 Aug 2003 13:12 GMT1
My parent's DVD player quit working and after ruling ou the obvious

IBM Selectric II carriage return stuck31 Aug 2003 05:54 GMT3
My IBM Selectric II typewriter fails to return the carriage when either the

I have got a 4 track Tascam portastudio recorder. It has a problem that I do
not know how to rectify. Originally i thought that the problem lay with
streteched belts, however I since found that a pully keeps popping down and
disengaging itself from the mechanism. What can I do?

HELP...Sony KP-48V-75 Defocus adjustment31 Aug 2003 01:43 GMT5
Wondering how to make this adjustment. The service manual states to

right direction on this one?
The reason, I think, this need to be adjusted is that the "blue lines"

"My Dimmers fail and fail, why?"31 Aug 2003 00:56 GMT20
I'd been destroying dimmers on a handful. I'd been making homemade dimmer
control (from ordinary residential dimmers) for my reading lamp. (Don't know if
this violates safety codes.) I would plug the dimmer to the wall receptacle
outlet and then plug the lamp into the dimmer. It's a ...
