HP 8662A problem30 Mar 2005 03:53 GMT3
We have an HP8662A and when we go from 118.0000000 Mhz to 117.9999999
the output has some discontinuity during the change. Other frequencies
seem alright within at least 5 Mhz of this value. Does anyone know if
this is a common characteristic of these units or is our unit faulty ?
Which used multimeter? Wavetek, Fluke, or Ideal?30 Mar 2005 00:34 GMT3
Noticed that old Fluke meters are selling for $50-$80 whereas
comparable Wavetek meters, same features, sell for $10-$30. Any
suggestions on whether the extra cost of a used Fluke is worth it, over
Wavetek? Also, is the Ideal multimeter really a Wavektek? (Buttons are
Help with vintage Tek scope29 Mar 2005 15:31 GMT4
I'm wondering if someone out there knows the type of coax used in the
500-series extender #013-055... I'm guessing by looking at the driver
circuitry it would ideally drive 93 ohm coax, but the (totally
unmarked) coax used in the extender has the following dimensions:

DVD disc compatibility btw computer and DVD player27 Mar 2005 20:08 GMT5
My friend makes DVD of episodes he records off of TV. They play fine on his
DVD burner/player in his PC.
When I borrow the discs, they frequently (not always) come to a grinding halt
in my Mac (using DVD Player app). When I put them in my commercial,
Making a microscope27 Mar 2005 17:44 GMT16
After pricing stereo microscopes and not wanting to spend $400+ And after
buying 5 or 6 little 1x,2x,4,5, magnifying lens I was wondering if there was
a way to construct a cheap stereo microscope.  It doesn't have to be stereo.
It just needs to be 10-20x power and about 5 inches ...
data rx/tx modules?26 Mar 2005 15:10 GMT1
I need a low power data module that operates on vhf or uhf for short
range data transfer (less than 300 feet). I know there is a company
that makes the inexpensive transmit and receiver modules (that are
already type accepted). But, can't remember the name of the company.
B&K 290 multimeter alignment?25 Mar 2005 09:33 GMT5
I got this B&K 290 multimeter at a garage sale. It needs a little
calibration. Most of the adjustment pots are marked but its not intirely
clear how they are used. One pot mounted on the range switch is not labled.
Anyone have the calibration instructions for it?
IC checker25 Mar 2005 03:32 GMT1
Is there a repair tool that you can put a IC chip into or use a clip on
jumper to connect to the device that will tell you what the chip is and if
the chip is working or not.  I have one of those old HP comparators but that
has a lot of limits.  I would like something a little ...
Tektronix 2200 Series Minimum "B Delay Time"24 Mar 2005 16:55 GMT1
 I've got a Tektronix 2236 Oscilloscope that has a delayed-sweep feature
in which an intensified portion of the A sweep is magnified and displayed
on the B sweep after a specified delay. This feature is shared by other
Tek 2200 series scopes like the 2235. But in the case of the ...
The continuing saga of cleaning out my lab...23 Mar 2005 04:13 GMT29
I wonder if anyone still uses these for anything? I just came across a huge
box of octal plugs molded into what looks like thick plastic squares:

Simpson 2785 Impedance Bridge22 Mar 2005 19:25 GMT3
It followed me home from the Tulsa  hamfest, made for Simpson by Metrawatt
in Nurnberg, Germany July 1972.  It's the first one I've ever seen.  It's a
bridge for measuring CLR and has 2 inputs on the back for plugging in an
external source. I wonder how high the external source can ...
