APC-UPS Failure Rate29 Aug 2003 14:36 GMT2
I have tried four home/office APC units and all of them fail within a year, sometimes after just a few months.
I went with APC because I thought, for some reason, they were supposed to be good.
Perhaps only their enterprise units are good, I don't know.
Looking for a 'smooth' bargraph..25 Aug 2003 09:14 GMT1
I'm trying to find a 'LED' 'BarGraph' that does not use discrete leds/dots
(ex.: a stack of 100 leds, or an LCD). I saw these used on a few hi-end
mixers (recording studios). They look like glowing thermometers (as in the
mercury would glow bright green or red) and respond at about ...

Gentlemen,
A few days ago I became a (almost 100%) happy owner of a HP 8640B with
Options 001, 002 and 003. Unfortunately, this fine piece of equipment
suffered a subtle freight damage and demonstrated ZERO RF output when

Help me choose an oscilloscope20 Aug 2003 23:32 GMT1
I'm about to buy an oscilloscope (right now, I want chance to use it
to test some stuff before I go back to work in 12 days)
My funds are rather limited, and any not spent on the scope will
likely go to other electronics test gear, of which I don't have much

Why aren't third party cable tV converter boxes widely available for sale?18 Aug 2003 01:31 GMT1
The cable TV service companies appear to have monopolies on converter boxes.
Telephone companies have been known to lease and sell telephones to their
customers, but the customers can always go to electronics stores and by
their own telephones (bypassing to need to pay monthly ...

I just got a Tektronix 2246 4ch 100mhz O-scope on ebay for dirt cheap and it
works like a champ.  Problem is, and I should've caught this ahead of time,
it didn't come with any probes!  (I borrowed a set of probes from a friend
to make sure the 'scope worked as it was advertised)
