| digital photo frames - is there a seperate controller i/face available? | 27 Jun 2008 09:37 GMT | 7 |
Now that the digital photo frames are becoming more and more common, I'm just wondering if there is such a thing as a seperate controller interface for a standard lcd screen (VGA) that will allow the user to run a spare 15, 17, 19" monitor as a digital photo frame?

Last weekend I threw out a perfectly good Roland A3 size DXY-980 Plotter, as no one wanted it. Of course as soon as I bin it, I get two requests, one from Canada, and one from a local. I had posted this message several weeks ago, before I tossed it.

Acquired a powered wheelchair with charger. The charger seems to signal two charged conditions: "Bulk charge complete", and "Charge complete". Charging seems to progress from the former to the latter. What's the significance of bulk charge?

| Any ideas as to what this might've been intended for? | 24 Jun 2008 19:54 GMT | 6 |
The item in photo is a coil of 20-gauge copper wire (with enamel or varnish insulation), is 12 inches in diameter, weighs close to 5 pounds and has a resistance of about 25 ohms. The coil is wrapped with electrical tape. Appears to have been homemade. Found it in a box of

| Counterfeit high voltage transistors | 24 Jun 2008 12:55 GMT | 8 |
It is likely this won't affect many, but we have good evidence of counterfeit high voltage transistors from some suppliers. The types so far affected are BU505 and MJE8502, these are 1500V VCES and 700V VCEO. We noted failures in our products and traced to a very low VCEO

| 5-7 digit up/down counter with display | 24 Jun 2008 04:34 GMT | 5 |
I know, not really repair, but this newsgroup has at least as good suggestions as the others and I'll cross-post to sci.electronics.misc. I need to either build or acquire an up/down counter with LED display that is at least 5 digits, 7 preferred. Count speed is 10 MHz max.

| Home brew pogo pins? | 24 Jun 2008 03:46 GMT | 5 |
I need ~4 pogo pins for a one off test jig, it's not worth the dollars or time ordering some from Farnell or whoever. Anyone made their own out of old connector parts or small safety pins? The PCBs I'm testing has corner mounting holes and has a 4 way 3.81mm pitch

| What is this? Some kind of diode? | 23 Jun 2008 11:08 GMT | 6 |
Have a automotive battery charger/car starter which doesn't work quite right. Won't charge the battery up more than half-way, and I find 5.5VAC rather than the expected DC of 1.5V (+/-) applied to the gate of the SCR that seems to drive the whole thing (NTE5539). My suspicions ...
