Difficulty inserting multi-strand wire into holes in HTIB31 Jan 2008 11:14 GMT15
My house is pre-wired for 5.1 surround sound with what seems to be
good quality multi-strand wires.
My "home theater in a box" receives these wires at the back of the sub-
woofer into small holes with some clip-like plastic things. (I am sure
Repacking drill battery31 Jan 2008 11:06 GMT11
I've got an 18v battery drill whose pack is just about completely dead. I've
been thinking about repacking it, but I'd really like to use
high-performance NiMH batteries in place of the current NiCads. The question
is, will the existing temperature sensor still work for ...
opposing voltage sources30 Jan 2008 22:12 GMT2
I've been looking at Keithley application notes for the Franck-Hertz
experiment. Some of them show voltage sources that seem to be opposing
each other. I don't know much about stuff like that, but I'm under the
impression that one doesn't really want to have voltage sources opposing
AA Batteries29 Jan 2008 12:40 GMT37
Simple question, where can I find the longest lasting rechargable AA
batteries? And what would be the best charger to get?
Thanks

problem using a 555 - help!28 Jan 2008 08:07 GMT16
I'm trying to use a 555 to generate a reset pulse ~1ms on power application.
Have the "usual" configuration with timing cap from pin 2/6 to pin 1 (ground),
charging resistor pins 2/6 to Vcc pin 8.  As this is a once-off pulse, DISCHARGE
pin is open (no function required).  RESET is ...

Dehumidifier On & Off Period Feature27 Jan 2008 18:16 GMT11
Does anyone know if there is a dehumidifier, instead of using
a humidistat setting,  allows you to set the time on and the time off?
Example: Set the dehumidifier to run for a half hour, then be off
for an hour.   This cycle repeats over and over.
Motors and gears (how to get starting)27 Jan 2008 17:19 GMT3
I want to start experimenting with motors and gears. (Small scale.
Maybe half tbe size of my old RC car motor or smaller) Unfortunately I
live on a small island :-) and I think I may find it difficult to get
the parts.

Small super high capacity battery??26 Jan 2008 14:19 GMT6
Hello, I have a 12v dc space heater that I use in my truck when I go
on trips. I only use it during the night (average about 6 hrs per 24
hr period). The heater is 300w.  I have it hooked up to a separate
sealed12v car battery which means it's drawing 25 amps!   This sucks

dead battery25 Jan 2008 20:58 GMT22
I have a dead AA Coppertop battery. I think there are things one can do
with the rod in a battery, e.g. carbon arcs, although I don't know how.
I won't ask about experimenting with the chemicals in the battery since
I've already directed that question to sci.chem.

Amplilfier wiring25 Jan 2008 10:14 GMT6
I don't know if this is the right NG to ask about the following:
I have a Sony DAV-FX500 5.1 home theater now installed which works very well
for our fairly medium sized room.  I was surprised to see the wire size to
four of the speakers as small as it is.  The wire size to the two ...
