To solder or not to solder - This is the question16 Nov 2007 04:11 GMT16
I need to terminate two 50 amp cables in a large terminal strip. There is
one line of thinking that if the cables are soldered before terminating,
over time the solder 'gives' making a possible loose connection.
I have no option to using a terminal strip.

Mismatched voltage wired in parallel.  What is resulting voltage?15 Nov 2007 13:01 GMT19
Fundamental questions.
Given:
If I wire two 3V 1mA batteries in parallel, the result is 3V 2mA.
If I wire two 3V 1mA batteries in series, the result is 6V 1mA.
Trailer Light Problems - Won't work with van lights on15 Nov 2007 01:50 GMT3
I have a 4x8 trailer hooked to my Honda Odyssey. They are connected to
each other using a 4 pin connector. The problem I'm having is when the
van lights are "on" then the trailer lights will not work at all.
However, when the van lights are "off" the trailer lights will work.
Cheap small run PCB assembly house?14 Nov 2007 23:10 GMT11
I'm after a cheap small run PCB assembly house, that can do small SMD
board assembly, either in Australia or overseas.
Nothing too fancy, small individual boards (not panelised), double
sided load, 0805's, QFP, couple of through hole parts and other SMD's,
Carillons  - Bells14 Nov 2007 22:21 GMT6
Hallo listers,
We have a problem: Our church build in 1300's has a Carillon (  Bells, Glockenspiel) of 16
bells that used to play every hour on the hour  a hymn for three minutes.
Every bell has an solenoid actuator that strikes the bell; this mechanical component

Where to get MMC cards?13 Nov 2007 20:48 GMT5
I need some MMC cards for a device that cannot handle cards bigger than
128MB. I've looked on eBay and there are one or two suppliers. The
prices are reasonable ($US7 each), but the postage seems a bit excessive
$US15.95 + $4.50 per card.
simplest PVR13 Nov 2007 14:44 GMT1
Hi everybody. I know that exists now a device called PVR (Portable
Video Recorder) and I know that a lot of you know that device; well, I
know that there are from  flash or sd memory based (relatively
cheaper) to hard disk based (in general expensive), both come with a
HD STB Recommendation13 Nov 2007 09:57 GMT8
I'm after a new HD Set Top Box, and would like some recommendations.
My main criteria are that it switches on fast, changes channels fast,
and has a HDMI output. Low operating and standby power is nice too.
I have another HD STB (DigiCrystal) that takes forever to switch on,
pins, cables13 Nov 2007 07:17 GMT16
I have various devices that have exposed pins or holes for pins. I'd
like to examine the states of these pins/holes by connecting wires
between them and a solderless breadboard. Typical examples include
pins on MIDI ports, D15 game ports, D25 printer ports, etc. If I get
Slider Pots13 Nov 2007 03:32 GMT7

I'm trying to locate some 10k slide potentiometers. DS, Jaycar, altronics
don't sell them anymore.
Farnell sells them for about $7-00 each. (Is that the going rate, or can I
Odd input impedances for DVDR12 Nov 2007 11:09 GMT2
I have a Tevion model TDR250HD DVDR which I purchased about a year
ago. At that time I noticed some strange things about the input
impedances on several video inputs. I posted my observations in
sci.electronics.repair but received no suggestions. I've since
How fast are the spammers?12 Nov 2007 08:04 GMT6
Four days ago I posted a brand new throw-away e-mail address here so
that people could contact me about the EA magazines.
So far tonight, two nice spammers have sent congratulations to that
address, telling me I've won not one but two lotteries!
