50 Dying batteries: Can they be shorted by cardboard if humid enough?31 Mar 2007 13:16 GMT29
I recently ordered on eBay 100 energizer AA batteries.
I tested them using a simple battery tester from radio shack.  4 were dead,
one was near death, and 95 were at an identical high mark, but just a
"little" below an energizer I bought from a retail package from Home Depot.

CFL "pulses" when off!29 Mar 2007 23:26 GMT7
All this recent talk of CFLs has reminded me of an odd situation that
I've been meaning to ask about.
About a month ago I bought a CFL for the fan/light combo in our
bedroom (I hate those fittings, but it came with the house), and when
Fluorescent lights stop microwave beam29 Mar 2007 23:20 GMT17
If you go to Tusla's death ray I explain how a beam of what I think is
a microwave beam that has been going over me at night and making me
sick to my stomach and leaving a metallic taste in my mouth and a
vibration in my body. I have been doing this for 4 years. During this
Solar Arrays and Subpumps29 Mar 2007 17:51 GMT9
A museum I help with recently installed a solar array, 3x4'?. They attached
a inexpensive small subpump to it to pump water from a pond up about 18" and
then let it pour out in a waterfall fashion. The motor burned up after a day
or two. Why? I don't know much about solar arrays, ...
UPS as inverter29 Mar 2007 15:16 GMT6
I've got an old UPS with a stuffed 12V battery. Is there any reason I
couldn't discard the battery and hook up a cigarette lighter plug to it and
use it as an inverter?
Thanks,

Having trouble finding a 1.3mm x 3.5mm x 11.5mm dc power connector that
I can solder a cable on to. I can find the 9mm long version no problem,
but not the 11.5. I think it's more common overseas. Anybody know where
I could find one? Anybody use these?

Mentoring anyone?29 Mar 2007 03:27 GMT4
As a self-taught hobbiest, sometimes I need technical advice to
complete an electronics project. Mostly these are signal generating
(digital and analogue) and amplifier circuits. Frequencies cover audio
to subaudio.
