Just spent many hours today pinpointing a faulty tantalum capacitor.
It was in the display board of the SC Deep Cycle battery charger.
The charger would run for about 5 minutes, then slowly the 5V rail to
the PIC would slowly drop to 3.5V or so and everything would stop,

Labeling Wire with the Brothers PT-1400 TZ Labeler27 Feb 2007 22:12 GMT5
I was just in our local electrical store searching for outlet boxes and the
like. I noticed an interesting (Dymo) label machine for sale at the front
desk. Didn't ask the price, but it looked expensive, especially in the
electrical specialty store.  Afterwards, I went to Staples ...
CFL poor performance (=total rubbish)27 Feb 2007 09:28 GMT24
I'm already stocking up on incandescent lamps. I figure a six-pack of
incandescent lamps will cover me for a year, and it isn't too
expensive to buy a lifetimes supply. About $30-40 worth of lamps ought
see me out.

AC mains problem?26 Feb 2007 08:39 GMT7
I purchased a mains powered late 70's vintage freq. counter from the
U.S. It was wired for 110v, and after first verifying that it worked,
I then rewired the trannie for 240v per manufacturer's instructions
(tap shifing). Powered up and again verifying it was functional. The

Beware: CFL duds26 Feb 2007 05:41 GMT58
** With all this politically correct hyperbole about CFLs becoming
compulsory in Australia,  I could not resist checking  out the lamps shelf
at the local Franklins store this arvo -  saw some very cheap 13W spiral
types, only $3.39 each !!!
