Hello, I'm trying to hook up a 74HCT163 to count from 0 to 7 then loop
and keep doing it.  I'm having a lot of trouble making sense of the
data sheet on how to connect this thing.  I have a 555 chip creating my
clock, it's lighting an LED right now, I took that from the positive

I'm considering adding temperature regulation to a 12V portable fridge.
The circuitry doesn't appear to be much more than a hot/cold switch
which switches polarity to a peltier device. Will switching the device
on and off with a certain "minimum" period (to avoid rapid cycling) be

I just got a new DVD player and I noticed that when playing a CD-R data
file (AVI) it makes a clicking or chirping noise every second. Regular
DVDs play fine, I have no DVD-Rs to try, and I haven't had a chance to

The vacuum cleaner motor makes just as much noise without the fan
attached to the shaft. It's the cheap motor that makes all the noise. If
they put a geared up induction motor in there it would be a lot quieter.
Why don't they do that?
