Ethernet, Video and 12v AC in Same Pipe31 Jan 2007 22:35 GMT6
I'm planning on running the three sets of wire in the Subject 60'
underground 18' deep in a 1 1/2" grey electrical pipe. The video is for a
video camera. Should I be concerned about interference. If so, what can I do
to minimize it? AC is black, white and green 12 gauge copper ...
Wine Cellar Controls: Simple analog control for Temperature and Humidity31 Jan 2007 19:18 GMT5
While not the most electronically-inclined individual, I am a computer
scientist--but have little grasp on the hardware (especially analog)
side of these things.  I have the need to construct a control
mechanism for my wine cellar.  Here are my specs:
VR sensors and shared earths31 Jan 2007 09:59 GMT2
Assuming I have 3 variable reluctance sensors monitoring teeth on a wheel
and I'm not using 2 of them, but they all share an -ve lead, will I have
crosstalk issues a) In a perfect world with the earth properly grounded b)
if I have a fault with an earth somewhere.
Muffin fan installation31 Jan 2007 06:55 GMT7
Should these be mounted with the faces plumb or level?  The RS
273-241 4" fan (new unit) that I'm trying to build an air circulator
from seems not to run at constant speed when I test it flat on
the bench.

All solid capacitors ???30 Jan 2007 07:50 GMT5
Gigabyte is making a big deal about their motherboards having "all
solid capacitors".
Is this some new type of capacitor  technology, or are they saying
that they don't use electrolytic (paper?) capacitors?

Purpose of the relay (6 Volt)28 Jan 2007 23:33 GMT30
I am experimenting on an older (1955) motor scooter that operates on a
6 volt AC magneto. I want to install a 6 volt AC horn. My question is:
Do I need a 6 volt automotive horn relay to produce sufficient punch to
power the AC horn? Is the purpose of the relay to muster enough ...
X10 modules28 Jan 2007 21:28 GMT2
Hi, all
I am trying to find an X-10 module (control over power lines) that is a
general purpose one. Basically, I need only the part to interface it to the
power lines and I want to use my own miro on top of it to perform my own
PC AT power supply conversion safety28 Jan 2007 17:08 GMT6
I'm using an old PC (AT form factor, I think) power supply to power a
device that uses 12V at 3.7A, since I couldn't find anything else cheap
that would provide 12V at that level of current.  All is working very
well, but the power supply fan is quite noisy, and I'd like it to be
Digital ballast for high pressure sodium lamp. Schematics?28 Jan 2007 12:59 GMT2
Those ballasts are available for around $150 in aquaristic shops, and
are told to have much better efficiency, prolong the life of the bulb etc.
I was unable to find any schematics, or even ICs of which I could use at
least the datasheets. Anyone has links, or whatever might help ...
A/D power formula27 Jan 2007 21:12 GMT2
Anyone out there know how to convert a bunch of analog voltage samples
into a power reading?  Do you just square the samples and average them?
Thank you.
