Dimmer Kit31 Jul 2006 04:55 GMT3
G'Day all.
Many years (at least 15-20) ago my dad made a 240V touch light dimmer from a
kit. Quick touch on-off.  Fingers on dim-up/dim-down.  The finished product
consisted of a brushed aluminium plate in a blank HPM mount.  They have

Anyone know of a weatherproof 240vAC-12vDC power supply?30 Jul 2006 14:13 GMT4
Probably hundreds out there, but I wondered if anyone knew of a model
that is reasonably weatherproof.
Are any of the transformers for garden lighting weatherproof?
Need about 1.5 amps at 12v DC.

Packaging electronic equipment30 Jul 2006 10:37 GMT2
I'm leaving on vacation tommorow and I want to take my graphics card
with me. I don't have any of those anti-static bags, so what would be
a good way to transport it?
Help to identify transistor30 Jul 2006 02:18 GMT4
I have some transistors (i think) that I cannot identify.
They are labelled FFT0601 in a TO-72 metal can, 4 lead
The 1st F is bold and larger than the rest of the part number and I thought
that would indicate Fairchild.
Need advice on using the PIC 18F1320's AD converter29 Jul 2006 21:46 GMT3
I am doing a project for someone that involves using the A/D converter
on a PIC18F1320 microcontroller. I believe I have it all licked, apart
from I just cannot figure out how to use the A/D converter properly.
This is my first experience with microcontrollers, so please forgive ...
Samsung SP56L5HX picture going yellow/green.29 Jul 2006 11:45 GMT4
I'm the first to admit I don't know anything about LCD projection
TVs. A friend of mine's SP56L5HX developed a yellowish hue in the
picture which is shifting towards green.
I've done some Google searching to find the likely cause, but
433 MHz RF links29 Jul 2006 06:09 GMT2

I fired mine up and came to the conclusion that it was picking up garage
door openers and my weather station as well.
Seems it might be better to run it rf on is equal to a space and no rf is a
I guarantee you've never done this...28 Jul 2006 23:25 GMT2
I was cooking mongolian lamb in my electric wok tonight when I decided
I should put away the multimeter sitting on the bench nearby so I
picked it up. Unbeknownst to me, the leads were sitting under the base
of the wok, and when they drew taut, the meter flew from my hand and
6V AC Adapter help28 Jul 2006 18:31 GMT9
We''ve got a baby swing that eats four D batteries faster than my son
can empty a 1/2 full bottle of breast milk. I'd like to get an AC
adapter and wire it up to do the job. I've got my soldering merit badge
but this would be new territory for me. Here's my plan so far:
UPS not For ...28 Jul 2006 11:15 GMT2
These typical UPS systems from APC, et al. obviously can run a computer
because they become an inverter when the AC input drops out.  I don't
believe that the output then is a pure sine wave.  Perhaps it is a square
wave or modified sine wave?  In any case, what types of equipment ...

Question about meandering tracings on computer circuit boards28 Jul 2006 08:53 GMT3
On many computer circuit boards, mainly motherboards, traces will fill areas
with "S"-shaped and wavy lines that seem to meander around themselves,
rather than go in a straight path to the destination.  In fact, certain (but
not all) tracings will often zig-zag (with smooth corners) ...
