COMM: Free workbenches14 Jan 2006 09:55 GMT4
I need to get rid of my beloved workbenches (two). I am offering them free
to anyone interested and with suitable muscle and transport to move them,
before the 9th Feb. Sadly, they will not fit into my new workshop. They are
exceptionally study and very well made.
Connecting a computer to the screen on my home theater system14 Jan 2006 08:02 GMT9
This is complicated, and I'm not sure if anyone can actually solve this, but
I thought I would ask.  I will try to explain this as best I can.
I looked up how to hook up a computer to a TV online, and it basically says
that the way to do this is to connect the cord from the video ...

I have an application which I want to use 'dimmable' lights.....
I have the light components, but the actual dimmer has a 10 volt reference

Who makes the DSE 68cm Pure Flat TV's ?14 Jan 2006 04:14 GMT3
I was considering purchasing one of the above TV's as a second unit for the
house.  Dick Smith has them for $348 at the moment.  Does anyone know who
makes them for Dick Smith?
I know that Telefix repairs them, but that's about all the info I know.
LG 700s question re horizontal drive14 Jan 2006 04:08 GMT1
I have had a fault appear in my LG monitor where the horizontal linearity
has gone  cactus. The width is about 1/2 and is very corrupted. From my
electronics course we touched briefly on TV, but this was in the "old days".
Apart from the main symptom everything else appears OK ...
Beyond TTL14 Jan 2006 03:22 GMT7
Okay, now that I have dabbled and put some circuits together with some 25+
year old parts (7400 series TTL). What might I do if I were to be doing this
with newer, more up to date, technology? Are there programmable controllers
on a chip that are easy to work with. Keep in mind I am ...
Soldering Capacitors to Motherboard14 Jan 2006 03:07 GMT3
I had 5 bad capacitors on my Gigabyte motherboard that was well out of
warranty. I got all of them desoldered and ordered new caps. The
problem is that the new ones are bigger than the old ones. For me to
solder the new caps in I will have to leave about 1/16"-1/8" of the
Photo Circuits13 Jan 2006 10:29 GMT5
Thanks everyone for all the answers to my previous questions. My photo
circuit is mostly done. Done in the fact that it works. It could probably
use much improvement, but it works. I built it on a bread board and mounted
it in a hard plastic VHS tape case. (Had to use a razor blade ...
Need help with Nixie (NL-840 tube) clock design13 Jan 2006 09:57 GMT1
So, we were out of state visiting relatives during Christmas week, then
returned home to find still more relatives camping out at our place. They
stayed for another week -- O joy :-(
When with drooping eyes we stumbled in from the airport to celebrate the

Cable length between TV and amp13 Jan 2006 03:36 GMT2
Is there a practical limit to the length of the audio cables between a TV
set and the suround-sound amp? Would there be any problems with having the
TV on one wall with the amplifier on a shelf about three metres away?
Your advice would be appreciated.
BEWARE-EBAY BUYER "VOXPOPPER"-lunatic leaving multiple negs for sellers !12 Jan 2006 22:37 GMT1
I now ask any 8-trackers out there, to examine the feedback that Bob
Scarborough aka DeserTBob (Usernet) aka Voxpopper (Ebay) left for this
seller- he gave this seller (8) negative feedbacks, this is
AFTER the guy reduced shipping to 1/2 of what the auctions stated.
Cat5e and Audio12 Jan 2006 22:24 GMT26
I'm about to wire my new house (we're at the frame stage) with lots of
Cat5e and droplines for extra wiring in the future. However it's
occurred to me that I'd like to wire for audio too.
1. Can I use the Cat5e for speaker-level-output?
Help IDing a two-digit 7-seg LED12 Jan 2006 13:04 GMT6
I have a two digit 7-seg LED module.  Ten pins, so I presume it is 2*BCD +
power. Only markings are ELT-D4014AW on the side and on the pcb (visible through
the epoxy fill) 4201E/F and SB (or S8).
Any clues as to pinout?
