Can potentiometers be lubricated?09 Oct 2005 03:36 GMT20
I recently picked up an old Roland synthesizer, some of the linear pots
are "grinding" when I move them - can they be lubricated/cleaned/buffed

Thanks,
Slightly OT: Cell 'phone vs. toilet.09 Oct 2005 00:11 GMT4
I went to visit a client today and the topic of my cell 'phone which fell
into the toilet (before I used it) came up. I quickly picked it up and
unzipped the pleather case, removed the battery and rinsed the blue water
from the 'phone. Then I put it on a fluoro light fixture to ...

Cutting blank PCB's to size08 Oct 2005 00:25 GMT33
Anyone know of a cheap but easy way to cut blank fibreglass PCB's to size?
Previously I have been using a very sharp cutting knife and steel ruler
(very timely task!).  Is there such tool out there that isn't massive and
doesn't cost the Earth that can do this?  Has anyone tried ...

How to "create" high load?07 Oct 2005 12:15 GMT19
Greetings to all,
First of all, I hope I'm on topic on this group. I would need a machine
similar to this: http://www.conrad.cz/detailpage.asp?DPG=50756. However,
as I see, it is rather costly (almost 900$ here, i presume it is not much

Inverter Amplifier Circuit07 Oct 2005 00:54 GMT25
The Inverter CMOS linear amplifier in Figure 3.64 on page 158 in the
book the art of electronics. The schematic seem to be unclear, for eg.
the capacitor has only 0.001 value. Is this 1000 uf or 1 nf?. Also
what is the circle connected to the ground just before the 51 ohm
Thermal pads on PCBs06 Oct 2005 23:43 GMT7
I have an audio amp in a 20-pin DIP, and pins 11-20 are all grounded;
the datasheet says to hook them to a large area of copper as a heat
sink.  My PCB design software leaves an annulus around each pad in a
ground plane, connecting the pad to the plane with a "+" trace.  The
