NiMH batteries usually have a capacity larger than alkaline, but on 9V they only have 170mAH compared to 500mAH for alkaline. Even some NiCd batteries have larger capacities than NiMH batteries. Why?

Can't find this power diode's specs on-line. Its a large stud-mount with what looks like a porcelain cap on the anode which then has a multi-bundled-strands thick (6mm total width) attachment wires with lug. The stud is about 7mm wide.

I have two power supplies giving 110V AC as outputs - I want to connect the two together in some way so that give 110V output. Can someone pls tell me how this can be donbe safely. I am trying to create a backup system so if one fails I can remove one supply and still not disrupt ...
