Electrical generators for lazy dummies27 Feb 2008 18:06 GMT1
I have been looking in vain now for a source that explains in a
slightly patronizing non-caffeine manner (the dummy part) the very
fundamentals of calculating electrical generators - i.e. the formulas
that let me know how many windings of what material will result in
Single phase loads on Open Delta27 Feb 2008 14:59 GMT25
Im an electrical engineer in europe,
But now I have to design an Electrical installation where they have a
so called "Open Delta" connection.
I believe it is the same as our 3-phase delta system, exept that one
static var compensator26 Feb 2008 13:54 GMT4
I need to know about installation cost and technical information for
static var compensator. Can anyone tell me from where I can gt these
informations
Advice on Rotating Electrical Panel25 Feb 2008 22:52 GMT2
I am remodeling the kitchen in my condo and need some advice with
regards to the electrical panel.  Currently, it is located on an
interior wall with access from the kitchen.  Seems silly to me, as it
makes it difficult to use that wall for anything.  What I would like
ECG electrode current leakage25 Feb 2008 22:21 GMT5
It turns out that for our ECG system we are over the limit for leakage
current.  We have some current limiting resistors that go in between
the electrodes and amplifiers but that doesn't seem to be doing the
trick.
foward & reverse switching on dc drive gear motor assy.24 Feb 2008 18:08 GMT1
Hi, I need some help, I hope I can explain the problem correctly. We
have,  ac/dc control box, with a switch for off and on. The gear motor
runs fine  this way but will only go in one direction, however if you
switch the motor leads ////////black   white the motor will reverse
I NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP!24 Feb 2008 04:49 GMT9
When my water heater kicks "ON" some (if not all) of my electrical
outlets serge to (136-139 volts) When I throw the hot water braker to
"OFF" the outlets resume (109-111 volts) I just replaced the (hot water
heater) heating element two days ago because of problems. Things are
Closed Delta 120/240V 3-phase service23 Feb 2008 07:13 GMT156
In the case of a commercial building served by 3 phase - closed delta
240/120 Vservice, what is the best way to detect a ground fault on a
three phase motor circuit on phase C were it to come into contact with
the ground?
Mains Isolation of an entire house23 Feb 2008 01:32 GMT4
Today I was asked to provide comment on an invention that uses the
existing wiring (active+neutral+ground/earth) in a house with the
following modifications...(a) an isolation transformer at the incoming
circuit-breaker box, (b) float the ground/earth wire inside the house
Contact surface area & household power transmission22 Feb 2008 21:01 GMT7
I've been pondering a question lately that I figure you guys can help me
with.
There are, based on my casual observation, many places in household wiring
where the connections within a circuit have a much smaller contact area than
Why are some rechargeable batteries not replaceable?22 Feb 2008 04:59 GMT10
Why are some rechargeable batteries not replaceable?  As in electric
razors, bluetooth headsets, etc.  I can see no reason for it that makes any
sense from either a technical or marketing standpoint.
Electric Motors21 Feb 2008 04:41 GMT8
I am taking a course on electric motors and i have a couple of
questions.
1) When you have a wire and you loop it through an iron bar, what
causes the iron bar to become a magnet?
wire size for shop 240V circuits?20 Feb 2008 01:31 GMT10
Hello, all,
I'm still waiting for my electrician to come out and install a
6-circuit subpanel in my barn workshop for 240V. Since I'm having so
much trouble getting a crew out here, I'm thinking of running all the
What 2 Basic Ohms Law to get R = E^2/P19 Feb 2008 22:50 GMT8
What 2 of the basic Ohm's Law formulas (using Algabra) are used to get
R = E^2/P Also   I=Sqrt of P/R    E=Sqrt PxR   R=E^2/P
How do you determine which 2 combinations of E=IR  P=EI   I=E/
R ..........
Half Wave Rectifier with Ideal Diodes19 Feb 2008 22:41 GMT4
I am having trouble understanding the output voltage graphs about the
half wave rectifier with the ideal diodes. For example, we have a
circuit where Vi = sin (pi*t), a resistor = 1 kilo ohm, and one diode
which is reverse biased. We are trying to find out how Vout graph
