EExed control panel, a big project!31 May 2007 13:07 GMT3
Dear friends,
Can anyone tell me except R.Stahl, CEAG and ATX, is there any
manufacturer producing EExde MCB?
There's a project requiring many distribution panels and the general
data compression algorithms on FPGA31 May 2007 12:09 GMT3
I'm thinking about implementing some data compression algorithms on an FPGA
(Xilinx Virtex-II) using VHDL. Because speed and FPGA utilization are very
important in this respect, I'd like to get some basic idea about complexity
and achieveable speed before starting.
Clamp-on meter sensor30 May 2007 17:54 GMT3
I have a meter that monitors electrical energy use using a clamp on
sensor.  The result is transmitted wirelessly to a display.  I would
like to log the usage over time but when I measure the voltage across
the clamp meter using a DMM it is zero.  Is this to be expected?  Is
Question about D-flop30 May 2007 17:40 GMT3
I'm looking at a datasheet for a CD4013BC D-flip flop.
The current for a high output states -0.36mA @ 5volts
Three questions:
Why is a high output called negative current when I would think it's
Street Light Fuse30 May 2007 13:11 GMT1
I'm updating a row of 10 street lights. New fittings are 150W Metal
Halide.
I was wondering... Cut off (when opened it kills the power) fuse
holders have been supplied with the 8m Poles...they sit withn the
Oxyacetylene Fires, Ionization, and EMI30 May 2007 10:01 GMT14
An oxyacetylene flame -- due to its high temperature -- can cause
nearby air molecules to ionize. Does this ionization cause electrical
disturbances that can be heard on an AM radio? If my neighbor is using
an oxyacetylene torch will I hear the electric noise on my AM radio?
Flatbed printer mod29 May 2007 23:35 GMT1
I have built a flatbed printer from an old Epson Stylus 640 but need to fool
the
printer into thinking there is paper in, when the drive stepper is disabled
I have tried timing relays but can't get it right. Does any clever person
Installing a UPS at a breaker box?29 May 2007 17:15 GMT15
I have a TV projector that is mounted on the ceiling and plugs into a
nearby outlet, also on the ceiling.  Although it's nice that I don't
need to run a power cord along the ceiling to a wall outlet, there is
one drawback: I can't plug in a UPS (uninterruptible power supply).  I
Car and Deep Cycle (including SLA) Battery FAQ28 May 2007 12:41 GMT1
The Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ Web pages have been moved.  They
are located at http://www.batteryfaq.org/.  The latest version is 7.0,
dated May 28, 2007.
The FAQ is consumer oriented with answers to questions about lead-acid
PS transf. to heat sink glue?28 May 2007 04:58 GMT24
Fixed a 26" Gateway LCD TV/monitor (bad solder joint in the SMPS).
But exposing the component side of the power supply requires pulling off 2
heat sinks that are glued to the tops of the 2 transformers. Some of the glue
pulled off of the top of one transformer (about 3/16 inch, ...
Ohm's Law is not really a "Law"28 May 2007 03:43 GMT20
Relax - you already knew this. Conductor resistance is a function of
conductor temperature and conductor temperature is a function of amperage
which is a function of restance.... Interesting circular influences there.
Fortunately, as temperature increases so does resistance. ...
Blowing Light Bulb..28 May 2007 01:16 GMT24
An interesting thing happened in the drawing room tonight.. a standard
40W incandescent lamp failed as I switched the room lights on.
What I saw was a bright flash and a red/white hot something leave the
wall lamp and travel some 8 foot to the floor.
How to measure a highly intense Alternating Mag Field  of 100kHz and 200Gs?26 May 2007 20:21 GMT3
Dears
I've got an intense mag-field (f=100kHz, amplitude=200Gs),
but no suitable detectors could be applied to it to make an acuurate
measurement.
will 110V without a transformer power a blender motor or cause a fire?26 May 2007 16:58 GMT2
One of my favorite things in the world died, my Oster 6710 blender.
It will not power on.  They do not sell it anymore.  I took it apart,
hoping maybe there was a easiler identifiable fuse I could replace,
but to no avail.
Light dimmers and controling the speed of power  tools.24 May 2007 18:14 GMT4
Hi all. We were discussing controlling the speed of a dremel ( high
speed low torque drill ),
