Computer engineering vs electrical engineering31 Mar 2007 05:35 GMT2
I'm planning on going to Purdue University. For a while now, I've been
going back and forth between EE and CmpE. From what I can tell,
Purdue's requirements are pretty close for both, but CmpE seems to
throw more software stuff at the student instead of hardcore

Thanks

Oscilloscope31 Mar 2007 04:19 GMT2
I am comparing two out of phase signals using an oscilloscope. How
would I determine the time in seconds that one signal is leading
another.
Relation between Power factor & AVR droop setting30 Mar 2007 04:15 GMT1
Gentlemen,
We have 4 x 920 Kw & 1 x 1100 Kw gas generating sets running in
parallel mode. In one of 920 Kw gensets we replaced the AVR two months
back & since then we have noticed that whenever there is a sudden load

FET circuit to switch power to IC?29 Mar 2007 00:06 GMT32
A 555 circuit running from battery power needs to be turned on and off. A
switch for this purpose cannot be added due to lack of space. The "on" signal
will be from an existing momentary pb switch (this switch controls an LED)
which can also provide battery voltage (7.2v).
UK electrical question28 Mar 2007 09:39 GMT2
I have some 2 core SY type cable. Is it permissible to use the wire
braid as an earth conductor, as in SWA type, or must 3 core with
green/yellow core be used to carry mains supplies?
Solar Panel 100 W Regulator28 Mar 2007 01:33 GMT3
Dear members:
I bought a solar panel, with a 50W regulator.  The question is that I
recently bought a second solar panel, and want to connect the two
solar panels at the same time to get more energy and better capacity.
Clarostat conductive plastic pots (380 & 485 series)27 Mar 2007 20:53 GMT21
I'm trying to find out if anyone has used the conductive plastic
potentiometers for guitars and/or for volume pedals for pedal steels
and had positive results with them.  Living on the coast with
excessive salt air and sand is not exactly the ideal environment for
VRI insulation failure27 Mar 2007 12:56 GMT5
I have just seen a domestic earth fault involving a cotton-braided
Vulcanised Rubber Insulation (VRI) cable.  A 60A branch fuse had blown and a
friend asked me to look at the problem.
The live cable and its neutral had passed through a brass gland but to me
can you help how to interface adc kit with microprocessor kit PLEASE!26 Mar 2007 09:33 GMT2
I have 8 bit resolution ADC kit which has 8 channels and 8086
microprocessor kit.
Now i want the microprocessor to processor digital data output from
the ADC.
Analyze the 1090 MHz channel and simulation with ns-226 Mar 2007 09:12 GMT2
I have to analyze the capacity of the 1090 MHz channel used by
airplanes' transponders to transmit/receive air traffic surveillance
services (such like ADS-B and TIS-B).
ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast) is a surveillance
Generator Grid Synchronization - Distributed Line, Dedicated Line26 Mar 2007 04:53 GMT1
If you are synchronizing a generator with a substation (grid).  Do you
need a dedicated line from the generator to the grid - meaning all
generated power is supplied directly to the grid?  Or is it possible
to distribute power along the way and connect to the grid?
Which uController to learn?26 Mar 2007 04:32 GMT123
PIC is king, I'm sure. But I'd like to hear from those who are using all
brands. Whichever you use, what do you like about it? What don't you like
about others? Suggestions re. learning?
I've programmed 68000 assembly and some higher-level languages (FORTRAN; some
