My air-conditioner compressor stopped working the other day. It's a 240 V. 20 Amp Circuit with a (20 amp - dual pole) fused disconnect outdoors at the unit and a dual=pole ganged 20 Amp circuit breaker further upstream at the service entrance.

A friend gave me a magazine artical and asked if I could build the circuit it described. The circuit was a text-book 555 timer running as a 20kHz oscillator powered by a 9v battery. The oscillator output was to be connected to metal handles that could be held in each hand.

I cant find a Panel Surge Protector for 110 volts (main breaker is 30 amps..small Panel). Menards has one for about $59 but its for 240 v. -- not sure if it will work on a straight 110 v. panel. Can you help ? Thanks much.
