Cycling of Circuit Breakers21 Apr 2005 01:01 GMT1
Is there any code, standard, reference, or documentation that states
how many times a circuit breaker can be cycled safely after it has
tripped? Also, are there a set number of times a circuit breaker can
trip before its overcurrent properties begin to degrade?
Paging Roy... 20 Apr 2005 23:55 GMT6

Hi Roy...
can you fill me in on who controls the work done in most of
NYC's hotels and office buildings.. in the 3 to 10 or 20 story
Video RF Transmission20 Apr 2005 23:48 GMT4
I am interested in transmitting video through a chip, but am not sure
which chip to use and am new to RF (still reading all i can about it.)
Do i need to add a modulation stage, or will most RF chips provide
this stage? I was thinking a 2.4GHz chip such as a ICS V385 8-bit LVDS
Battery Diodes20 Apr 2005 21:13 GMT4
Looking at using schottky diodes as battery diodes for use in split
charging systems.  Are these bits of kit the sort of thing to use??

Bulb el. consumption?20 Apr 2005 05:45 GMT6
A regular light bulb lasts 2000 hours at 60W.
An energy saving bulb lasts 6000 hrs at 11W instead of 60W.
If the electricy price is 1 dollar per Kwh, would it be correct to assume
that the regular bulb costs $1/1000 x 60W x 2000 hrs = $120?
Furnace Thermal Cutoff With Hanging Downward "Wheel", Or ?20 Apr 2005 04:29 GMT2
Moved into a 30 yr old house with a forced gas hot air heating system.
Saw something near the furnace wiring which I'm not familiar with.
Seems like they have a regular 4 inch square type gang box
mounted in very close proximity to the furnace with what looks
Watt Sec question19 Apr 2005 16:31 GMT4
Just checking to see if I understand joules.
1 Joule = 1 Watt * 1 sec, or J = 1Ws
If 1.5M Ws is the energy dissapated by a resistor (with a value 2
Ohms), does this mean that there is 866 Amps every second thru the
Electric Motor Burn Out?17 Apr 2005 12:53 GMT16
What happens to cause an electric motor to burn up or short out?
I'm currently taking a physics class and this question was posed to
the class by the professor.  In the movie "The Grinch Who Stole
Christmas" the Grinch has a large toy monkey that crashes two symbols
Replacing a Pushmatic Breaker17 Apr 2005 10:20 GMT2
My sister-in-law has an old "Pushmatic" breaker panel in her house, and the
2-pole 30A breaker (P230) that her clothes dryer is on has started tripping
randomly. From what I've read this is a fairly common problem with
Pushmatic breakers. The dryer is fairly new and the wiring ...
3-pole circuit breaker voltage rating on single phase17 Apr 2005 06:03 GMT35
Consider a 3-pole circuit breaker with the pole sections side by side
so that pole 1 and pole 3 have pole 2 in the middle.  This is a very
typical circuit breaker design for molded case breakers from companies
like Cutler-Hammer and Square-D.  These typically have a voltage rating
Help with circuit diagram please16 Apr 2005 12:32 GMT15
I have a slightly unusual project I wonder if someone can help with. I
need to customise a guitar to include 20 4.8v 3A torch batteries. They
will be powered by 2 4.5V Alkaline batteries, the tricky bit is that i
need the lights to flash on and off in groups of 4 or 5. Basically I
Building voltage regulator for induction generator16 Apr 2005 06:55 GMT2
Please can somebody tell me the easiest way to control the voltage output of
induction generator.
The generator is three phase 11 kW, excitet by capacitor bank of 240 µF; as
a prime mover a tractor of 30 HP has been used. The speed of the generator
Help, IEEE files needed15 Apr 2005 15:53 GMT2

Telco line question15 Apr 2005 00:15 GMT13
If anyone is familiar with telco construction practices, maybe they can
answer this one.
The local telco was installing a brand new overhead line from the
central office near me a few months ago. I stopped by and asked one of
