I had an old overhead service to my garage (50amp, 220v). It came down and
has been disconnected. I am going to put in an underground service. In the
mean time I want to continue to use the garage.

Electronic electricity repository is an energy concept that aims to accumulate
and store electrical energy from any source.  The storage would be intended to
accommodate such things as electric vehicles, home heating, etc.  The best
example is the EV - an electric car that would run ...
engineer for hire29 Feb 2004 12:12 GMT2

I have an idea for an invention.
How do I go about finding an engineer to design my idea and make a
prototype?
Why don't more people use CFLs?29 Feb 2004 06:50 GMT251
I still remember the first compact fluorescent light bulbs I bought back in
'95 or '96. I brought them home, screwed them in and found out that I didn't
particularly like them because of the strobe effect that these lights
created. In fact, I considered this effect so irritating ...

nominal 1 amp continous, 1.5 amps 15 second peak  at 1.5 & 3 VDC.

Hi Group
I'm looking for a simple solution to an annoying problem.
On my PC I've got a set of external (mains powered) speakers.  I've got a
couple of annoying problems that I'm sure should be rectifiable, but I don't

Bizarre partial power failure exprienced...28 Feb 2004 03:24 GMT18
So at around 9PM, here in Miami, the power blinked for about three
seconds. No biggie, I have a UPS. Then I got some a report that a power
blink ocurred at work, but only certain circuits were affected. I
confirmed that both failures happened at the same time.
Wire Size/Load Question27 Feb 2004 23:21 GMT21
In the standard 60cycle 240V 3 wire feed from the pole to a house or small
business I've noticed that the neutral wire is sometimes smaller than the
two hot wires.  Why is that?  Has the assumption been made that 1/2 or more
of the load will be from 240V devices that don't use the ...

Water heater wiring?27 Feb 2004 22:12 GMT18
UK
I've got hot water tank that has an economy 7 (night time) heater. But it
keeps burning the insulation on the live (blue) wire. When I rewire it'll
work fine before the insulation burns again and disconnects the wire.

Need electrical advice on motorcycle wiring26 Feb 2004 11:35 GMT2
I hope someone can help me with the wiring on my motorcycle.
I bought a license plate frame with turn signals from J & P Cycles. You can
see it here >>>> http://www.jpcycles.com/shop/group.asp?GPID=14208
Upon it's arrival, I noticed it only had one wire on each signal. No
Cross Country Faults?26 Feb 2004 10:02 GMT4
I have been exposed recently to a Schweitzer that provides protection
for what is called "Cross-country Faults".  If I've been told the truth,
this would be for when there are two circuits on the same double circuit
tower, and the wind gets high enough to let both conductors of ...
Resistivity of Romex (NM) cable25 Feb 2004 20:40 GMT32
I'm interested in calculating some voltage drops for my shack service
feed...  Does anyone know where I can find a table of resistivities (ohms
per unit length) for various Romex (NM or non-metallic sheathing) wire?
Also for THHN?  Please include the source for your data if possible ...
