Floppy Disk Interfacing31 May 2009 17:22 GMT8
Howdy folks.  I've been looking into how floppy drives work again,
interested in tinkering with them myself for fun in projects, but have
some questions.  I also wouldn't mind some confirmations/corrections
of my info by folks who actually know about this stuff, unlike

Low noise amp chip31 May 2009 04:38 GMT14
Hi All.I'm looking for a very low noise amp chip, about 1 watt is all I
need.  I have used the LM386 (crap) and the TDA2822, more satisfactory, but
I need to get rid of more of the white noise/hiss.  Any ideas on a more
suitable chip, or components to help aleviate the problem.

Hanbury Brown--The Intensity Interferometer31 May 2009 04:01 GMT13
I said I'd post this awhile back...it turns out that my softcopy of the
last third or so of the book is corrupt. :(
Here's the first two-thirds, anyway:

I presume I should use the "A" terminals, though I have not a clue,
My ferrite transformer is bigger than yours... eh well...30 May 2009 17:26 GMT12
Well, maybe I *shouldn't* say that here, because I know some people have
rather large ferrite transformers...  Still, it's big as home built projects
go.

Speaking of Colin Mitchell -- Circuit mistakes30 May 2009 14:50 GMT9
He's a very opinionated guy -- would fit in quite well here. :-)

Voltage Regulator for Making Bench Supply from Laptop Wall     Transformer30 May 2009 08:34 GMT3
I would like to create a bench power supply for experimenting with
audio circuits. I'm not an EE and I'm just doing this for fun so I'd
like to do this as cheaply as possible. I'm looking for advice about
creating such a supply from existing or inexpensive components.
Questions on an SFH3710 phototransistor30 May 2009 06:51 GMT15
Anyone tried to use these phototransistors before?  I purchased a few
from Digikey to see if they would work in a color sensing application
I have, and they don't see red!  I am trying to figure out if I just
can't read a data sheet, or if they have a bad batch of these out
Unconnected heatsink a major design flaw ?! (GigaWorks S750)30 May 2009 02:48 GMT26

"The problem with the big heatsink at the back is it is not directly
connected to any heat producing components, a major ...
Feeling red LED light?29 May 2009 23:25 GMT23
I was yesterday playing with some lithium cells and a red LED.
I noticed if I shine that LED on my hand I could feel some warm
feeling.
But sort of dismissed it as imagination...
