I'm working on small project using some prototype circuit boards (8mil traces with 8mil gaps, no solder mask, mostly through-hole) and had a little difficulty with the soldering. Maybe my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be, or maybe the tip on my soldering iron is a bit worn

| Potting horror... | 05 Mar 2009 20:11 GMT | 105 |
A customer of mine has a problem with a PCB potted in polyurethane. The circuit consists of some inputs (clamped & filtered), a microcontroller with internal RAM / flash and some power electronics to switch loads (up to 40V). 10 PCBs where produced and tested. All

| Question about Dynamic Range | 05 Mar 2009 18:59 GMT | 13 |
Isn't clear to me how use DR to avoid aliasing... By definition, DR is: DR(dB)=6.02*N ; N=resolution of ADC It is equal to maximum input voltage (Vref)/minimum revealed input

| Single output half bridge going discontinious at light loads OK? | 05 Mar 2009 15:53 GMT | 3 |
I have a offline (300VDCin) halfbridge design that supplies 24V at 240W max. The PSU goes discontinious at ~ 18W. There is one operational mode when the load drops to 5W and the supply would go discontinuous. Typically I've avoided this but there is no room for a larger output ...

| pcb design in RF | 05 Mar 2009 13:18 GMT | 4 |
I am looking at a circuit which involves multiple supply voltages (+5V,+9V,-9V). This is a proof of concept. And it involves RF also. Since it involves RF, I am thinking of making power supply board separate from RF section in the proof of concept. Is it advisable to

I have a metal-bodied LED like this one: <http://jp.hamamatsu.com/products/sensor-ssd/pd150/pd157/L9437/index_en.html>. I would like to heatsink it via the PCB groundplane. Also it needs to be fixed very solidly to minimise movement under vibration. I could

| Ladder Logic help needed | 05 Mar 2009 07:04 GMT | 15 |
I have "translated" a schematic of a discrete CMOS controller to ladder logic, keeping a labelling one-to-one correspondence (eg: U5 pin 3 becomes XU503 or YU503 or RU503 depending on pin 5 being input, output, or internal respectively.
