SMT rework shops near Sacramento or Bay Area?09 Jan 2008 22:33 GMT30
Many of us design folks don't have all the fine pitch gear to lift a
super-dense quad pack and solder on a new one. Same goes for some of my
clients, mostly the start-ups. So, are there any service providers that
can do these jobs on a prototype board or two? The usual fabs often ...
Various questions regarding optocouplers09 Jan 2008 22:33 GMT1
Hi there - I'm working on finalizing component selectrion for a high
side switching circuit (as discussed here a month or so back). I was
recommended the FOD617 optocoupler, but I'd like to find a similar if
not better surface mount part.
UK Electronics qualifications, How, Where?09 Jan 2008 22:28 GMT6
I would love to do some (UK) qualifications in Electronics and was
looking at the Open University site, but they don't seem to offer any
courses in Electronics.
Does any one know of any accredited distance learning courses I can do

Seeking low chemical reaction caps09 Jan 2008 22:01 GMT20
As you may know, Electrolytic caps can generate a few hundred
microvolts DC. I read that this voltage is due to slow chemical
reactions. What capacitors (over 4uF) generate the least DC voltage?
I appreciate it,

RFID tags in Arctic conditions?09 Jan 2008 19:21 GMT6
I have an application in which RFID tags need to respond and send data while
at very cold (10 deg F to -30 deg F) temperatures.  They will have been put
in place for up to one year. While not exactly the application, it's as if I
were attaching RFID tags to the entrances of Arctic ...

LED backlight driver09 Jan 2008 16:47 GMT11
A new product I'm designing uses a TFT display with an LED backlight.
The LEDs are arranged as 5 series strings of (I think) 9 white LEDs.
Each string is spec'd at Vf = 30V @ 20 mA.  They also recommend that
the currents in each string are matched to within 5% for good
c-frame ac motor control09 Jan 2008 16:35 GMT2
I'm looking to control the speed of a single-phase, C-frame 110VAC fan
motor (typically found in bathrooms) with a simple variable-frequency-
drive circuit, to learn how variable frequency drives work.  IIRC,
these C-frame motors are less than 100W.
load cell scale accuracy over time09 Jan 2008 16:03 GMT2
Hello all,  I need to measure the weight of a container over the
course of up to 2 months.  Would a load cell type scale be appropriate
for this application?  Would there be accuracy deviations over this
time?  Any suggestions?
