| resistor shaped capacitors | 31 Jul 2009 11:05 GMT | 2 |
In a surplus components grab bag I've found some resistor shaped capacitors. They appear as normal 1/4 Watt resistors of a yellowish colour and show two gold bands. Their value is also represented using the normal color code adopted for resistors.

| analog switch in EEG front-end circuitry ? | 27 Jul 2009 04:43 GMT | 10 |
I'm designing the analog front-end for a device that measures EEG (approximately 0.5 to 50 Hz, 10 to 1000 uV peak-to-peak). I'm using a good instrumentation amplifier, and a good input RC network that does not degrade the CMR.

| Fuse Replacement | 26 Jul 2009 08:51 GMT | 2 |
I know very little about the technical side of electronics but I can use a soldering iron. I have two external hard drive cases which use what "appear" to be identical power supplies. Said power supplies reduce the current from 240volts AC to the required supply for the hard ...

| Help identifying SMD fuse? fusible link? | 17 Jul 2009 06:32 GMT | 3 |
<http://i32.tinypic.com/dm9wlw.jpg> At first glance it looks like a 2-terminal SMD package. But there's what look like side terminals but AFAICT they're not soldered to the PCB. (Or am I mistaken about that?)

| What do peopel (incorrectly) mean by RJ9, RJ10, RJ22 ? | 16 Jul 2009 09:33 GMT | 6 |
I often see references to these phone plugs RJ9, RJ10, RJ22. It turns out those are non-standard names for a 4P4C connector. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4P4C What are the people who use these names likely to mean?

| 400-500V TO-92 etc npn / pnp BJT ? | 11 Jul 2009 16:32 GMT | 9 |
It's a bit more than the usual voltage. The MPSA44 / 94 JUST makes it but the datasheet doesn't give hFE @ low Vce and the '94 seems to be rare. Any other candidates ? Cascoding could be problematical in this
