This may seem like a stupid question, but I've been wondering this for quite a while now, and I hope someone here can help me answer this: When you go looking on the web for a source to purchase some part, and you can't find it in any of the usual vendor's catalogues (i.e. Digikey, ...

The usual: Just about to finish a design. When I started a week ago the LP324PW in TSSOP was in stock, now it's gone. Bone dry out there. Minimum leadtime now four weeks. Drat. Does anyone know where to get some? For prototyping we only need a few.

| Who has TO-5 10-pin sockets (TO-100)? | 30 Jan 2007 13:22 GMT | 19 |
A client of mine needs TO-5 10-pin sockets, often called TO-100. For example Keystone Cat.No. 4594. They are commonly used for small VCSEL lasers with integrated thermo-electric coolers. But not much for ICs anymore and that seems to be the problem.

| Digikey brought back old search function | 30 Jan 2007 01:50 GMT | 3 |
Says on their site: "Back by popular demand - Classic Search". Hmm, interesting. Seems there is finally a company that did listen or was willing to admit that they blew something. The "In Stock" check box is still a bit iffy in that it occasionally

| Is there an official SMT size site? | 25 Jan 2007 20:15 GMT | 12 |
It's bewildering. Was looking for diodes in SC-75, barely anything. Then by chance I found the beloved old BAS, BAV and BAT diodes again. Slightly different numbers but they were listed under SOT-523 which looks the same to me as SC-75, or SOT-416 for that matter.

While attempting a home-charge of a set of NiCd batteries, they were left unattended and consequently exploded (relatively high current was flowing through them). The basement area in which the explosion took place is currently being ventilated overnight.
