20 years ago I bought a plastic project box with a grey non-transparent
"box" and a transparent screw-down "lid".  Size was about 6" x 4" x 3"
high.  The transparent lid was 6" x 4".  It was a really nice box, had
brass inserts for the the screws holding down the lid etc., guides ...

i need an application note describing a schematic for a linear position
sensor, in "time of flight" mode. The range of sensing is from 1 mt  to
1 cm, and the resolution less than 1 cm

I everyones...I buy them on Ebay. When i can get some leds that match my
optical/electrical requirements, they're often in a clear package. I frost
them using high grit sand paper. Any quicker method you know? TIA for any
replies.

see scratches on the surface, bent leads, tin traces, etc.
