| Typical shunt capacitance of xtals | 31 Aug 2004 13:18 GMT | 1 |
I am looking for a SMD 50MHz-60MHz crystal with low shunt capacitance. On several online datasheets, I often encounter a 5pF max. shunt capacitance value. 5pF for my design deteriorates too much the phase shift of my pierce

| Strange component - ETC551 | 30 Aug 2004 22:44 GMT | 2 |
Hello. I'm trying to figure out this pest control device and it has an 8 pin DIP with a part number of ETC551. I tried the usual sources and was unable to come up with a datasheet. I'm assuming it's probably some kind of timer or pulse generator because it's in the circuit with ...

| Low voltage hobbyist-accessible microcontrollers? | 30 Aug 2004 20:16 GMT | 24 |
In the perfect world there would be a flash-based microcontroller, serially programmable, that could run off a single cell (meaning 0.9V - 1.8V or so). PIC16LF62x's go down to 2.0V (with some reasonable temperature limitations)

| RFID chips - what is not known? | 29 Aug 2004 05:59 GMT | 3 |
All I ask is why take the risk? Where is the benefit when the risks are quite unknown. Microchips are being pushed on the public sector quite quickly. FDA approval of microchips? You have to be insane. Does this mean that hospitals will be allowed to insert microchips in

| Cap Polarity and Resistor Pack Polarity | 29 Aug 2004 00:21 GMT | 6 |
Is the polarity (or the lack of such) of a cap a function of its dielectric composition? What are resistor packs made of, and why are there polarized? Some enlightening URLs would be appreciated. Thanks Al-U

| electrolytic mystery | 29 Aug 2004 00:21 GMT | 31 |
Perhaps y'all can help me with a mystery. All electrolytic capacitors have a "working voltage" rating. The question is, what are the consequences of exceeding that voltage? Now, before you jump to the obvious answers, read on:

| DIY Pico fuses | 26 Aug 2004 03:05 GMT | 10 |
Yeah, I forgot to order them. And now I need one. Actually, I needed one this morning when I plugged the metal DB37 connector into the DCC5-P Counter/Timer board and a slight misalignment shorted the PC's +5V to the surrounding shell to ground. It actually vaporized about .035" ...
