| PCB design: Is silkscreen on ground plane okay? | 27 Feb 2007 17:29 GMT | 10 |
I'm doing my first PCB design. I'm an EE, but I am not familiar with many of the practical aspects of PCB fab. I have IPC-2221 and a couple of other documents like it, and have done some searches, but so far I haven't found an explicit answer to this question.

| pcb design rules | 24 Feb 2007 01:51 GMT | 10 |
I'm trying to get a feel for what pcb design rules to use. I have found various manufacturers sites which define their minimum track, gap and drill size but I'm trying to work out in what order I should be reducing each of these to get my pcb routed.

| VIA' in home pcb work | 22 Feb 2007 08:46 GMT | 7 |
for a while now I have been doing double sided layouts and single sided boards - with the component traces tracked with jumper wire. I am now trying to do a TRUE double sided board and I wondered how you folks handled vias?

| Conversion service for Omation SCHEMA III schematics to Altium PCAD & Designer | 20 Feb 2007 21:14 GMT | 1 |
I'm offering a conversion service for files from an extinct schematic program by OMATION called SCHEMA III. It was very popular in the 1980's and arguably the best of the DOS programs. I can convert these files and libraries to Altium PCAD and Designer

| Low-Power Design Requires an Open, Comprehensive Standard: The Unified Power Format | 17 Feb 2007 08:58 GMT | 1 |
Ask anyone designing low-power ICs what they really want. They are most likely to say a standard for describing low-power design requirements. With the ever-increasing demand for less power consumption by

| TTL/CMOS logic reverse engineering tools? | 14 Feb 2007 12:35 GMT | 3 |
I am looking for a tool that helps to reverse-engineer old PCBs full of TTL/CMOS ICs. Something graphical. The ideal program would let me place the parts [which should be in a database already :-)] and enter the pin connections. The program then

| Old trackball won't work on modern laptops | 04 Feb 2007 08:18 GMT | 150 |
Since I have to do a largish schematic and won't be in the office the whole time I wanted to connect my trusty old trackball to a laptop. This old mouse still boasts a, gasp, 9-pin serial connector. But you know how it is, when you get used to a tool no matter how ancient you ...
