optocoupler trouble31 May 2008 17:36 GMT13
I'm getting strange results from an optocoupler (aka optoisolator, and
this is the kind with transistor  output).  In brief: nothing I do
seems to make the transistor "conduct", except very feebly.
Here's my setup:

Identifying a wire31 May 2008 02:24 GMT5
OK I'm putting an old radio in a new truck and the wiring harness
had to be slightly different. Bottom line: I've got about 5 extra wires
coming out of the radio. Now one of them powers the panel lights but I don't
know which one or how much power it needs. How would someone go ...
maintaining 12 V30 May 2008 17:32 GMT2
well i have to implement an intelligent lighting system. after
detecting the person from PIR sensors, light has to be switched on for
some time only at night time. Im using a 12 V battery as a power
source which is powered by solar pannel.
potentiometer output to on/off switch30 May 2008 01:29 GMT6
I would like to convert some output (ohm resistance?) from a
potentiometer to an on/off switch.
My electronics experience extends to being able to solder stuff...but
that's pretty much it.  I take stuff apart, sometimes it goes back
Is this safe to use in outdoor ?30 May 2008 00:05 GMT7
I noticed Electroluminescent  Vinyls paste out side the taxi door for
advertisment without any protection, I remenber this kind of displays
need high ac voltage to triger. I am wondering would this pose any
danger in electric shock when this vinyls gradually degrade over
Crystal Radio Amplifier29 May 2008 11:53 GMT7
This may be a stupid question, but I'm about to build a crystal radio
(http://www.bobsdata.com/crystal_radio/index.html) and I want to use a
little audio amp (Cat. KC5152 @ www.jaycar.com.au), and was wondering
if I'd need the matching preamp (Cat. KC5172 @ Jaycar) for the crystal
How to use variable power supply for charging29 May 2008 04:18 GMT5
Hi, I'm reposting this here, my previous attempt was probably in an
inappropriate place.
I bought a variable voltage variable amp power supply to use
charging my RC batteries:
Can portable jump starter supply mobile power?29 May 2008 04:00 GMT2
Left over from my boating days is a 300amp portable jump starter (www.

printer are carried in my car along with two 75w DC/AC inverters that
plug into the cigarette lighter. The laptop is powered via  the car
solar based lighting system28 May 2008 21:18 GMT4
hay watsup , i m in need of little help i have a project of solar
based lighting system , motin sensors are also incarporated, battery

Charging two batteries?28 May 2008 11:27 GMT13
--Curious to know if there are any know downsides to stuffing an
extra 12v battery in a car, hooking it in parallel with the existing one and
expecting the alternator to charge both of them. I expect it would take
twice as long to charge 'em both, but is there a danger of screwing ...
Looking to filter the noise on a Sharp IR sensor28 May 2008 00:21 GMT6
I just hooked up a Sharp GP2D12 IR range sensor to a scope and saw
that the output is very noisy. The sensor updates at 25Hz so I was
thinking that if I were to add some kind of 25Hz low pass filter to
the output that would clean things up.
Regenerative Radios26 May 2008 23:37 GMT12
I've been looking for a transistor regen schematic, finally found one,
but it doesn't give the coil specs.  I want to receive the AM band,
from 530 kHz-1500 kHz.  Any help on this very much appreciated.
