Question ---  12v to  240v inverter starting high surge startup30 Dec 2007 11:30 GMT7
I have  a  600W modified sine wave inverter  and am trying to run a 70w bar
fridge.
It almost starts the fridge but overloads.
I have been told that a 600w pure sinewave inverter would probably do the
PIC timing29 Dec 2007 12:13 GMT4
Okay, I was curious about the actual speed my controller
is running at, so I ran the following loop on it. If I'm not mistaken,
I've set OSCCON to 8MHz, so at 4 clock/instruction I should see
0.5 uS pulses. My scope on RB4 shows pulses 5uS wide!
Can you charge a battery from two sources at the same time?28 Dec 2007 23:34 GMT4
Lets say we have a nice windy and sunny day and some discharged
batteries. Lets say 11V. I hook up the pv charge controller, its
putting out whatever V it thinks is getting max power. Lets say its
14V. Now the microcontroller on the wind turbine charge controller
Schottky-barrier diode and frequency performance28 Dec 2007 20:37 GMT3
How can a Schottky-barrier diode enhance frequency performance ?
Can someone here kindly provide me with some link or document that
talks in detail about Schottky-barrier diode's relation with frequency
performance.
fet op amps, max differential input28 Dec 2007 19:21 GMT5
Looking at datasheets for op amps that can take a large differential
input.
TLC271 says +/-Vdd
TL071 says +/- 30volts
FM Crystal Radio28 Dec 2007 16:24 GMT25
I'm about to build an FM crystal radio, but the schematic calls for a
50 pF variable capacitor, would a 2 section 233/86 pF capacitor work,
if I only use the 86 pF section?

advise on ESR meter project ?28 Dec 2007 14:03 GMT24
after diagnosing an old microcontroler board with lots of various
old caps i thought maybe an ESR meter to be a good tool for the
tool box ? yes/no or a better tool for the box
so i googled for some ESR meter plans and settled on this one

PIC puzzle27 Dec 2007 20:14 GMT2
Okay, new PIC issue causing premature forcible hair removal. The code below
is supposed to put 1's on the PORTB pins (PIC16F690). It's not happening;
what am I missing?

unusuall transformer for common mode isolation27 Dec 2007 14:42 GMT1
A thread in rec.radio.amateur.homebrew about the Peter Dahl
transformer
company possibly closing down lead me to this unusall transformer
design.
Connecting powered speakers to a sound card27 Dec 2007 03:40 GMT2
I have just run cables around the house with the idea of sending audio
output to various powered speakers from the PC's sound card.  This
works well with the shorter leads which use standard cables bought
with jack plugs fitted.  The longer cables are made from high quality
ESR homebrew revisit ? good design ?26 Dec 2007 19:11 GMT18
Thanks to all for the ESR meter advice.
I had settled on building this *free* ESR meter schemat ...

however something troubled me about the schematic
meter with continuity test and diode test on same setting26 Dec 2007 02:28 GMT31
I have this unbranded meter that has a setting to test continuity (w/
a beep) and I noticed a diode symbol next to it as well.
Putting the leads across a diode I think is good I get "1" (infinity)
one way and a cryptic "566" the other way, what do these readings
