measuring voltage on dc motor?15 Nov 2007 01:04 GMT7
I'm looking the specs for a motor and one of the things it lists is
measuring voltage.  Based on the rest of the spec sheet this value is
not the rated/max voltage for this motor, so what does this term mean?
Detecting zero crossing on secondary side of transformer.14 Nov 2007 23:27 GMT4
Can I detect power zero crossing on the low Voltage side of transformer by feeding the comparator on the pic with separately (half or full) rectified voltage?

Automatically powering 220V dust vac when 220V saw starts14 Nov 2007 20:27 GMT17
I have a 220 volt 13 amp table saw & a 220 volt 9 amp dust collector, the
latter of which vacuums up the saw dust from the former.  I would like the
vac to start when I power up the table saw, & shut down after the saw shuts
down.  Ideally, the vac would run 5 to 10 seconds after ...

Sorry if this may be more of an engineering question, but maybe
someone here has some experience of this.

neon transformer14 Nov 2007 13:42 GMT7
Some time ago I saw an advertisement, or thought that I did, for a neon
transformer, a high voltage transformer about half the size of a pencil.  Do
these things exist and where might they be found?  Google offers no help.

Reference for "one-shot" circuit with input longer than pulse13 Nov 2007 22:29 GMT4
I need a "one-shot" circuit with enough power to close a small relay
for ~0.25s. The input trigger will go to ground and stay at ground for
>> 0.25s. So far, all the one-shot circuits I've seen assume input
duration is << 0.25s. Can anyone provide a reference, on-line or

Need some help formatting and sending commands to TLV5618 DAC12 Nov 2007 22:52 GMT4
I would be very grateful if someone with much more skill than me could
take a look at the datasheet for the TLV5618 serial DAC here and tell
me exactly what they would clock out of a microcontroller to set the
output of 'A' to 0, 2.5, and 5V?
simple power switching circuit12 Nov 2007 22:30 GMT6
I am working on a small project using a pic microcontroller that
I want to have run for months at a time. I can put the pic to sleep
to conserve power but I would also like to remove power to the
peripherals I am adding (i2c eeprom, etc). What I want to do is

Sizing a capacitor?12 Nov 2007 15:23 GMT42
Hello.  1st post on any group.  Hope this works.  I don't know squat
about electronics.  However, maybe someone here can help.  I replaced
my engine driven fan on my 2007 GMC with a set of electrics fans that
are wired through a 30 amp fuse for each of the two fans.  However,
