Multiplexing signals26 Nov 2007 00:13 GMT5
I don't know if I'm going down the right path here. I'm an electronics
hobbyist with no formal training.
I've got an Arduino board and I want to drive an 8x8 LED matrix. The
thing is there are 24 pins on the matrix.
Electret Condenser Element Question25 Nov 2007 21:47 GMT3
I have an electret element capsule with the following parameters;
Sensitivity: -56dB V/ubar, -36dB V/Pascal +/-4dB.
I'm looking  for a different element that has better sensitivity. Should i
look for numbers that are higher or lower than the
12 V Lamp On 240 V25 Nov 2007 16:39 GMT31
I need to operate a 12 volt AC/DC filament indicator lamp on 230/250
volt mains.  I'm guessing a resistor would do the trick. If so, what
value?
Old Radio Resistors25 Nov 2007 15:26 GMT5
I'm currently restoring an old radio, and the resistors in it are ones
I've never seen before. I need to know how to interpret the value on
these, so I can test them and replace any out of tolerance. Picture:

how to use small mic from camcorder25 Nov 2007 14:15 GMT10
I took a mono mic out of an oldish camcorder we had, and wanted to
then solder it to a jack and see if it'll work to record to my PC.
However, I've had some problems and questions that I'd appreciate if
someone could help out with.
electret microphone output25 Nov 2007 09:07 GMT5
I need to do some analysis of an FM transmitter circuit that is using
an electret microphone for input. Does anybody know what kind of the
amplitude an electret's output would be? I have been combing the web
and datasheets and haven't found anything conclusive. Even an order of
Running LED off 9.3 Volts AC25 Nov 2007 02:18 GMT44
I need to replace an incandescent dial lamp in a modern radio, and I
would love to replace it with a high brightness LED, to save having to
replace it in the near future.  Problem is, the source voltage is 9.3
volts AC, not suitable for running an LED off directly.  What value
power cable question24 Nov 2007 16:32 GMT7
My laptop uses power cable that has 3 prongs and looks like cloverleaf
at female end.  I have misplaced the power cable but I have another
that has 2 prongs and looks like it could fit once I shave off the
plastic.  Any of you know for sure if the center pin in the laptop
Help pls - Solar Powered 2-way family radio treehouse project24 Nov 2007 01:19 GMT12
Hello! My nephew has a neat treehouse in his backyard.  I would like to take
readily available parts and make a weather proof solar powered family radio
intercom system for him for X-mas.  Is there plans for this out there or any
ideas on where I should start?
How to connect a 120V device to Australian mains supply?23 Nov 2007 22:30 GMT6
I have very little knowledge of electronics and I think this is a
fairly basic question. I have a Sangean WR-2 radio bought in the US
that I want to use in Australia. The radio is powered 120V/60Hz/24W.
In Australia we have 240V at 50Hz.

70V questions23 Nov 2007 18:09 GMT8
Hi Guys (Posted this on alt.electronics but it seems like only spam
lives out there)
I need to use 70V to power a solenoid for about 1sec at a time. I
would like to controll it with a PIC microcontroller.
Help, Laser Communicator23 Nov 2007 16:10 GMT7
I'm helping my son make a laser communicator.
It uses a cheap laser pointer and a Radio Shack 1000ohm to 8ohm audio
transformer. The 1000 ohm side is in series
with a battery and the laser diode, the 8 ohm side is driven by a radio.
