model rocket ignitor30 Nov 2007 21:33 GMT2
To make a model rocket ignitor which works with AC current I connected
a piece of nichrome wire ~4cms (the heating element u'll find in old
electric stoves) . When I switced on fuse blown out in my home.  The
total length of wire is 50cms and was rated 1500W. So as if the length

I have a question about multimeters and was wondering if ne one could

DC Rated Fuseholder On AC29 Nov 2007 14:44 GMT2
Not too sure if this is the right place to ask but I need a panel
mount fuse holder for 250 volt AC, the only ones I can find is plastic
one rated for 500 volts DC.  Are these safe for using on DC? A pretty
stupid question I know.

Digital Control of an SCR (Thyrister) DC Motor Control Board?28 Nov 2007 23:12 GMT6

Home made AC-AC power supply question28 Nov 2007 13:31 GMT51
I have a device requiring 9v AC 2.5 Amp.
So do I get a 240v-9v transformer from the electronics shop and put it in a
case,  attach the correct leads and I'm done.
I suppose an inline fuse might be a safety precaution.
oscillator needed27 Nov 2007 20:55 GMT2
Hi - I need a 10.7 Mhz signal to debug an FM receiver kit I am putting
together. I have a Z8 Encore microcontroller eval board I bought
sometime ago so I might be able to use the pwm signal from it, but
otherwise I'll probably need to use some sort of crystal oscillator.
Fisher Price Baby Monitor. Frequency?26 Nov 2007 14:15 GMT5
Two units both powered by 6 volt wal warts; the portable end can also
use a 9 volt battery. Two channels. The portable unit has the number
71565; apart from that appears complete absence of any numbers, model
or otherwise!

a silly question that google can't seem to answer... are any LDRs
available that will _reduce_ resistance as light _increases_?... or is
this a circuit type that i should learn to build?... i bought a few
radio shack and have tested them, but they all decrease resistance as
