Oscilloscope newbie question19 May 2007 03:49 GMT4
At the bottom of the screen on my FLUKE PM3082 scope a have :
Ch1  1.00 V=   MTB 10us    ch1f .
Does the 1.00 V= means that every square along grid Y axis corresponds
to 1 V?
Voltage Drop for Power Adaptor19 May 2007 03:39 GMT8
I am planning to light up 178 LEDs (3.4V-3.8V, 25MA) using a 18V/1A
Adapter (DC radio shack transformer) and I need a little help.
Power Adapter says that is 18 volt but when I test it with volt meter
it shows 22V. When I connect a string of 6 LEDs (plus small resistor)
Stiff wire (not copper?), how to repair/reconnect?18 May 2007 19:49 GMT8
I am trying to reattach 2 broken wires on one side of a pair of
headphones, but normal solder is not working.
When I scraped off the insulation from the wires, I noticed that the
metal is really really stiff and brittle (though I was able to bend it
Damaged 7805 regulator?18 May 2007 12:48 GMT4
I've got a small PIC project with a 7805 regulator. It was working fine
until I added ICSP (I soldered in the ICSP header and reprogrammed the uC
without checking that it still worked in between :/ ) I have checked all
my new connections and can't see any bridges.
Need Safety tips for large motors/batteries/capacitors18 May 2007 06:46 GMT6
First of all hey to everyone who reads this group, hope your well.
Anyways, in my latest project I am hooking up 2 OSMC's (open source
motor controllers, www.robotpower.com) to 4 wheelchair motors to power
a small chair around.
I screwed up18 May 2007 01:27 GMT8
I bought a Profile AP740 Car Audio Amplifier and could not get it to
turn on. I had 12.7VDC reading between the power and ground wires (8
G), and I had 0.1 ohms of resistance between the ground point and any
bare chassis around it.

variable capacitors - piezo transducer?17 May 2007 22:40 GMT5
According to this wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_capacitor
a transducer is a type of variable capacitor.
Does this include the Radio Shack 273-073A Piezo Transducer?
Any US source for inexpensive germanium transistors?17 May 2007 22:11 GMT7
I wanted to try an idea appearing in Electronic Design (May 10 07)
calling for an NTE 103 (TO5 NPN Ge)
They claim a DC/DC converter that will unconditionally start
oscillating at ~260 millivolts.
Reading MOSFET SOA graph?17 May 2007 21:05 GMT3
I need a reality check here.  :-)
Am I reading the FBSOA graph (Fig. 11) correctly for this IXYS MOSFET?

It looks if I wanted to use it as a 100% duty-cycle switch (on for

LM556 unused half input termination17 May 2007 20:18 GMT5
Crossposted to sci.electronics.design,sci.electronics.basics ;
followups-to set to sci.electronics.basics.
I found a 556 in my junque box, and thought it'd be fun to flash an LED or
something, but I only need one half of it. I know unterminated inputs are

Would you stop for a moment?!
Haven't you thought-one day- about yourself ?
Who has made it?
Aliasing and low-pass filtering question17 May 2007 01:41 GMT7
Can someone please para-phrase the following?
"To avoid aliasing, an analog low-pass filter is placed at the input
before the sampler. The low-pass filter determines the highest
frequency of the FFT analyzer. Because the rate at which signals can
gui in matlab16 May 2007 19:29 GMT2
hello everyone. I have a very important question:
how can I create gui in matlab that recieves from the user a two
dimensional space that includes buildings or poles and the program
