why sine waves in power lines and why not square wave!01 May 2007 00:52 GMT12
Why are we using sine wave A.C in power transmission lines? Why
shouldn't we use Square wave AC instead of Sine?
Switching V-reg30 Apr 2007 15:12 GMT3
I need to find a v-reg that turns 12 volts to 3.3volts and one that
turns 12 volts to 5volts. Does anyone know any good ICs for this.

At what frequencies does a ground plane become important??30 Apr 2007 08:43 GMT7
Would a 555 square wave oscillator running at 30Khz work any better
with or without a ground plane?  I need the harmonics unhindered.
Using a relay30 Apr 2007 06:28 GMT12
I got a relay I cant figure out how to use, it as 5 connectors.
Its a finder 36.11.9.005.0000 5V(dc) 10A 250V(ac), I dont have a
datasheet for it.

Cursed30 Apr 2007 01:37 GMT26
A princess walked into Radio Shack holding a frog.  And she said to
the sales person,
"can you help me with this, my prince got turned into a frog"?
So the salesperson sold her a TTL 7404.
2pole Rotary Switch and Diodes HELP29 Apr 2007 23:42 GMT8
Original Question
Can anyone recommend a rotary switch, transistors, Ic's, or any
component that may work for  following situation?
I have a circuit 4.5 vdc and three momentary switches in series (two

Simple circuit to measure baud rate on a serial link29 Apr 2007 04:01 GMT8
I'd like to be able to measure the baud rate that a couple of sealed devices
are using to talk to each other over a serial (RS232) cable. I know that
they only use the common baud rates 9600, 19200, etc.
Can anybody give me some pointers on a circuit I could build that I could
Help - I need a design for a 6 volt, 700 mAmp dc power supply29 Apr 2007 02:18 GMT4
I want to build a sturdy, portable dc power supply to plug into my MP3
player that has issues with charging its internal battery.  It works
just fine with the AC/DC adapter but  want my player to be "portable"
again.
Gain bandwidth product29 Apr 2007 01:49 GMT7
I have been reading in wikipedia about Gain-bandwidth product
and I wanted to ask if anyone knows why the openloop
gain decreases linearly as the frequency increases?
Soldering tiny (e.g. PLCC, LFCSP, CLCC) ICs28 Apr 2007 22:19 GMT9
What do hobbyists do if the IC they want is only available in a tiny
5mm-on-a-side format, like CLCC?  (I'm thinking, specifically, of an
accelerometer made by Analog Devices.)  Are there snap-in adapters out
there that would give me a more PDIP-like pin-out?  I have seen
building a digital optical protractor28 Apr 2007 11:17 GMT9
i am needing to measure the angle of an arm.  I would like the readout
to be very accurate to .001 degrees.  Has this been done.  I thought
of measuring the optical pulses through a digital encoder like used in
a digital mouse.  thanks in advance for the help.
feesible idea for soldering ic's?28 Apr 2007 07:52 GMT21
Teds post gave me an idea to solder in smt ic's using an idea similar to
welding.  Would it be possible to use a low voltage high current source to
melt pre-tinned pads to the ic?
The idea might be something like sticking a conductive bar over the pins of

hello every body, i have a quistion. Why do we use the common emmiter ?
LM386 (audio amp) oscillates27 Apr 2007 20:20 GMT13
I have a LM386 that oscillates when the volume is turned up too far.
It's operating with the default gain of 20 and there is a RC on the
output as recommended in the app notes (10 ohms in series with .05uF).
The oscillations will stop if I add a .05 cap across the input pot,
