Silicon Controlled rectifier31 Mar 2007 18:50 GMT7
A curcuit I would like to build calls for a 6 amp. 200 volt SCR. I
can't seem to find that particular component and was wondering if I
could use a SCR that is rated for 200 volts but has a amperage rating
of over 6. After reading a little bit about SCRs I think the voltage
Capacitor-selection31 Mar 2007 17:41 GMT2
For my next project I've just built a PSU using a small 9V-transformer.
Hooking it up to a Graetz-bridge for rectification, I measure 9.5 volts
over Vcc/GND (i.e. over "+" and "-" on the bridge) using my DMM.
Now I'm going to add filter caps. What I'm unsure of here is if
REQ : Stepped lighting.31 Mar 2007 11:37 GMT3
a request for a circuit/layout for light switching that will turn on
low level lights 2 or 3 steps in front & 1 behind as a person walks
along a corridor or up/down stairs. Component list & values would also
be required if possible. My thanks for your consideration.
My Introductory Post31 Mar 2007 02:09 GMT22
Hello all..
I'm a newbie.. well sort of..  Now, don't flame me! LoL.  I don't
know a lot about electronics.  A lot of stuff I have forgotten over
the years about it.  It seems I need to fill in the gaps in my

two phase from single phase30 Mar 2007 22:58 GMT8
Is it possible to create two phase(or more) from single phase using passive
components(definitely not any motors) and maybe transistors(or
semi-conductors)? The design would need to handle large currents and
voltages so one can't directly use an summing op amp or anything like ...
How to (ab)use a PIC  ;-)30 Mar 2007 19:53 GMT6
First off, big thanks to everyone for the overwhelming amount of help I
received.
I've been playing around with LC oscillators and other RF like things lately
and I decided to try my hand at making a superhet WWV receiver.  Not being
Antena that can sense thermal Radiation from human body30 Mar 2007 14:03 GMT84
Can i get some help in understanding or some help regarding sensing
the radiation emitted by the human body, i recently sensed a very
feeble signal from humans using a CRO, the freq was in the range of
60us .... and had its peak amplitude at around .2 - .3 V   any
How to make a LED flash together with the music BPM30 Mar 2007 13:58 GMT2
Hi, i was wanting to construct a simple circuit where a led would

Extech MM560 - Micronta 22-167 Shootout30 Mar 2007 13:02 GMT45
Got my new Extech MM560 today, pretty cool.  Haven't had much opportunity to
play with it much yet, but I did a few measurements just to see how the 15
year old Micronta was holding up.
On an old 6V battery I use for tinkering I get this.
New technology...30 Mar 2007 08:57 GMT2
I am working on a project with a new wireless technology from the firm
Nanotron (based in Germany).... Does somebody work with this
technology ? or has information abour it ?

Large Piezo Elements?30 Mar 2007 08:49 GMT17
I have a circuit for driving large piezo elements, but I can't seem to find
large elements anywhere. I'm talking large enough to be driven by 1kV.
Anyone know of a good source?
Thanks for any help.
Can I replace NiCad with NiMH?30 Mar 2007 01:27 GMT8
I have some rechargable wireless headphones that I use on the
treadmill.  The NiCads have developed so much memory that they only
last about 1/2 hour.
Can I replace them with NiMH?  Will the charging dock handle them the
Multicore shielded cable in the US29 Mar 2007 22:30 GMT3
Once upon a time this was easy to get in small quantities (25' - 100')
but now it seems like 500' or more is the norm. I'm looking for 26 or
28 AWG 4 conductor **tinned** copper shielded cable in 25' to 100'
quantities and just can't seem to find it at the usual Digikey/Jameco/
hard drive header position29 Mar 2007 22:13 GMT6
I have a little project that I am undertaking that requires accurate
position feedback and I thought of using a similar approach to the way
hard drive headers are used for positioning, afterall they are
extremely accurate and fast. The difference is that I need to be able
